I know Bobby Howfield played football with Watford and American Football with Denver Broncos but I'm not sure he had any links with Liverpool or Detroit.
Interstate 80/75 connects East Liverpool, OH with Denver then taking the Interstate 85 north from Denver takes you to Watford City ND. Including Detroit in the trip is a bit of a pain because you have to leave the Inter State 80 at Toledo to get to Detroit, which, to be honest, isn't worth it. However, if you mean Liverpool NY you can go via Canada and loop round the north of Lake Erie to go through Detroit, then join the 80 at Toledo for the rest of the journey.
Ken Furphy played for Everton, which is a suburb of Liverpool. He played for and managed Watford. He managed Detroit Express. He liked John Denver songs!!!!
Gotcha! The man who "scored" on the night Watford clinched promotion to the 2nd Division for the first time in their history - Roy Sinclair.
And he also passed with his back leg as he was running ( i think away at Bournemouth ) looked total class but i think it was luck so yes over to you Vic

No, Alan Garner and Rodney Green came straight from L*t*n as well amongst others.
The only full back I can think of that fits the bill is Colin Meldrum. He only played in Div 3 and 4 throughout his league career which is unusual. Maybe.
