    What happened to Steve Williams?

    I'm a bit too young i'm afraid <whistle>

Was it injury at Arsenal? Or did he just never settle/fit in there?

Decades anyone? The Lawrie 80's team was a brief flicker of promise. And it went so quickly. Steve William's departure was symptomatic of the lack of ambition that drove Lawrie out. Glad the boat seems a bit more stable than back then.

Would like Morgan to come good at Man Utd, had enough of my non Saints supporting mates taking the piss out of me for saying how great he is when "he is ****" because of his form at Utd.

He struggled in his first season there, lost his England place that he'd so richly deserved playing at Saints, but did then go on to play great for them too. Arsenal fans will tell you so and he gains legendary status there for his gentle, vocal description of Ardilles during a game against Spuds.

One of my favourite Saints memories is Williams smashing the ball into the Napoli net from the edge of the box at the Archers end.

Steve Williams was one of my favorite all time players; loved watching Alan Ball too; was in the twilight of his career; immense player however.

There is a clip where he says worse somewhere.

FYI - that ref is John Martin and is from my home town. He booked me once for saying "You're not on the telly now ref" :)

FLT: I believe he was too. They worked so well together in the midfield.
