Can't wait for it to be compulsory for all members of the Southampton not606 forum to have to use Harvard referencing for every post they write. Only playing, mods...
Pretty well most of you at some point complained about some of the obvious rubbish being Posted by the "in the know sources " Etc as well as the off topic subjects. There was if memory serves even some discussion on how to you guys thought it could be achieved. Coming up with the right formula is the problem though. As you guys have already agreed. If you guys can come up with a way we will listen as we usually do. Trust me we do not want to be constantly having to concentrate on one particular thread. So come on guys you help us out for a change let's see your solutions to what was as you all called at some time the rubbish or crap as some put it from taking up pages and pages of what for most is a very interesting thread?
As I have mentioned before, we Saints mods all wear toilet seats around our necks whilst online as a symbol of our position. Obviously if any of you has an idea how we can keep everyone happy then we are all ears. One at a time though, eh?
Stand down and ask for volunteers from those ready to take over. You won't get killed in the rush. It's a piece of piss to fire arrows. The mods on here do a bleedin' good job. They allow discussion to run; they've allowed specialist threads; they've clipped the ears of those who have simply been nasty. This does lead to some pretty odd posts, and rumours generally make me yawn. But I'll take that for all the great discussion that takes place.
If it ain't broke, dont fix it? Anything that isn't a transfer rumour, or a discussion of a rumour, is removed, but otherwise, it should be as we were.
That's just the point...........the number that complained on its last outing suggested it was broke. What we are asking for is help formulating a fix. How ever thanks for the input.
I have a pretty simple idea.... Transfer rumour thread which is not pinned. People with info and media sources are all allowed. (No off topic) A locked pinned transfer update thread. Which only mods can update with either media links they have seen themselves or parts they feel are worthy from the unpinned thread. It won't take much effort to update one thread with all the mods doing their little bit. That way everyone is happy.
First of all I think a transfer rumour thread should be allowed, if you don't like it , don't read . However I would also completely agree the mods do a very very good job , people asked for a dedicated politics thread and they allowed one , they didn't have to !
So only rumours from a published source are real rumours? . I would be more interested in a hint from DTLW about something than a dross article from an unknown 16 year old who is a keyboard King and gets stuff onto Newsnow. You can't however limit it to DTLW and Beefy as other people know people too. You yourself have posted information from your mate and that to me is also more valid than some published rubbish. I just think you need to re-think this. Why don't the mods publish how many complaints there were (roughly). Was it ten, a couple of dozen or several dozen. Then we'll see if there was a problem. This may help justify the want to make a change and back up pleas to keep it on topic. From what I've read about it here so far, I'd say the big problem is not silly rumours but off topic and silly puns. people like me who like a giggle may realise that we need to temper that, ( or others may realise they need to lighten up.) Here's an example of the problem you have that could happen: Example only. St K doesn't post regularly in here and I'd guess he spends some time in Germany judging by his name. Let's say he meets some chap out there with work who knows a coach at Hertha Berlin and he is told that Saints are talking to them about signing their striker. I'd like To hear that. St K comes onto the rumour thread and tells us, only to be told he can't post that without a published link. i think he'd not bother posting much more. This is the type of thing that is interesting if it happens. If we can only have published links then we can use google instead of not606 for transfer rumours. This post is not a dig, it is trying to help as I genuinely think that having published articles only will lessen the thread.
I thought the transfer thread got out of hand last year with the puns etc., didn't put this to the mods I don't think though. To be honest as soon as a rumour starts gathering momentum the player gets a dedicated Saint! Thread anyway
Well done to Frazer for becoming February premier league player of the month (not a rumour) hope he was given the trophy in Feb as he may drop it this month. Only kidding, well done Frazer.
Just to validate this rumour before it gets removed http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ays-Premier-League-Player-Month-February.html
We are always evaluating rumour. A typical pub exchange might go: "See Liverpool are chasing that (insert name of any player)" "They'll never get him. Where did you get that one from?" "It was in The Mail" "Wouldn't wipe my arse with that crap" (Translate as "I doubt the credibility of your source") Not living in the area, I like to scan rumours. My critical faculties are still good enough to pick up bullshit. Bring 'em on. We are surely capable of ignoring the crap. With the standard of media reporting in this country we need this ability on a daily basis.
Maybe do a poll, with options for leaving things as they are and including suggestions on here. Me, I am more than happy how things currently are. I read what interests me a skip over the rest. The puns, well yes maybe over the top but that's us. There could be far worse things we need the mods to step in on than a bit of humour here and there. Thankfully we don't have more serious issues because we are pretty much all sensible grown ups.
http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/arti...ter-player-of-the-month-february-3000237.aspx Confirmed on OS, so may be true Delighted for Fraser...I was surprised to see a GK get it, but very pleased.
Hal Robson-Kanu of Reading is available on a free transfer in the summer. I understand EPL clubs are interested, but cannot say more as not authenticated.
Not going to ask for the identities as I understand that's confidential and we can't expect you to say that but can we at least know what sort of numbers (roughly) complained specifically about ITK rumours. I honestly fail to see why a link from the Star or the Sun is considered as a substantiated source but genuinely ITK posters aren't.
