Hardly a "rumour" thread then, is it? Might as well call it the official transfer news thread and only update it when we sign someone.
Technically even rumours in papers etc are unsubstantial, a hell of a lot is made up just to get sells. So the thread will be even more gossip (and boring), as people try to find the most rare link to be different. DTLW who has posted info for years is basically being told to keep quiet. I can't say I agree with the rule myself, it ruins some of the point of having a forum.
I agree. What is the point of a Transfer rumour thread if you can't put rumours in it? Has there been a problem in the past with people posting things they've heard? I can't remember anything in particular and it generates discussion which is surely the point of a forum. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
I think TSS meant the random posters who say they've heard whisperings from their mate in the pub or who have literally made something up. I think Beefy/DTLW who hear things and we know they are partially ITK is fine.
I like all the rumours, even the ridiculous ones. They make the months without football interesting. I vote to keep the rumours thread as it is - there's never been a problem in the past.
Oh dear, I don't really get the need for this. PS. "Sky sources" is going to get a lot of airing this summer
I said after our home leg that he would be good for us. Hope it is true, although I think a bigger club may take a gamble.
There may be other people who hear things genuinely and don't wish to declare how they know. I think it is an unnecessary* decision myself * Nb. I changed my original word here in the spirit of "think before you post"
I agree, but there is also always a lot of stuff that is posted that is worthless, we know how quickly the summer transfer thread grows when there is nothing else to talk about
The main thing is the transfer thread usually goes way off topic about half way through. That is the thing that needs to be stopped far more then people giving bits of info.
How do the mods decide what is worthless. An article from the Star is probably worthless, but it is a "source"...
Exactly, they haven't agreed to ban published articles. They only want rumours if they have a published source.
But that stops people with info posting it. Look at the past seasons, the info from DTLW, me and few others have all been far more correct then rumours in the media.
I would love to know why the Mods in their wisdom have come up with this particular stipulation. Nobody seems to want it and the summer transfer window when there is no football will be even more dull if we can't talk about anything without it being quoted on some dodgy website. Why do people need to be censored? Is Saints Not606 being transferred to China too?
I don't agree with what they've said tbh. Although you/DTLW provide good reliable info and I'd hope we could take that into account
