RIP Deano. Remembered fondly You were awesome. You were the only bright thing on that wet, miserable afternoon in Bolton when I took my now wife to her first Premier League game. .
It's a very American thing., but would anyone support the idea of a Southampton FC Hall of Fame? I was thinking about writing to the club and suggesting the idea as a way to celebrate former players, managers & back room staff. 5 or 6 could be selected each year from different eras and officially induct them as part of the end of season awards night. You could also (where possible) organise Foundation supporting evenings with... or invite them as match day guests and on to the pitch at half time throughout the season.
He hasn't said that publicly. Not yet. Sound bloke who has done a lot for the club and the supporters in terms of media content and engagement with supporters. Also, on a personal level, he's someone who went out of his way to give up his time for me, encouraged me and keeps in touch. Whenever I've met him at the training ground etc he's always seemed very genuine, too. Shame he's a Millwall fan!
I'm not qualified enough to put in for Jim's job, let alone be the successful applicant! I spoke to Saints after the application process and there were some opportunities but they agreed with me that it wasn't worth walking away from the role at Southend United over. Well, last month I did just that, after 16 months working with SUFC. Good fun and gave me an invaluable insight, really. I'm about a year away from having to panic about finding an employer to keep me off the streets.
I know Saturday will probably go against Fraser and his defenders play an important part, but to be out of the game for nearly a year and return with a record breaking clean sheet run, just pips it from Long for me. It is an incredible achievement considering the seriousness of that injury. Fraser for me.
Yeah, I think he just gets it. The fact that he's come back from a long injury shouldn't be a motivator to vote for him, but it will undoubtedly be a factor. All of the nominees are worthy contenders but Forster gets my vote too. Now I've just got to go and do it: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/arti...layer-of-the-month-vote-february-2979618.aspx
How can they imagine that 12.5 million would compensate us for the loss of Fraser is beyond me. Especially if we want Ron to sign a contract extension....I know, let's sell the team from under him. Absolute tosh.
Jim has left Saints and joined The FA. He'll be based at Wembley Stadium and will cover the England teams, as well as The FA Cup and other projects.
