It's bollocks, £9m is the fee combined with the value of his contract, so includes his wages for the term of his deal.
Use to be a fan, but his attitude at city towards the end of his stay was poor, plus he was more than happy to sit it out on the bench for West Ham, it was more about money than playing with him.

We must have upped Nick's money, he's dropped his Big Macs for Chinese. Unless it was a Valentine treat & he was back on the Sausage & Egg Bagals this morning. Diet Coke though.
I see that Jelavic has been shipped out to a Chinese second division club for £2 million. That gives The Hammers a nett loss of £1 Million for 1 goal. That turned out well then - perhaps he wished he'd stayed?
I doubt it - with this latest move he's shown what his true motivation is, his BS statement of ''I need to play at a higher level than the Championship'' really should have been ''I aren't taking a ****ing pay-cut, I'm off.'' We'd have all had a little rant at that but, I for one, would have respected his honesty (after a wee rant of course).
I hate to disappoint you all, but pretty much every footballer follows the money, whatever bollocks they come out with in interviews.
Thanks for the non-post post Lammie, every ****er knows this, the players know we all know this - why not show a little honesty?
Because if they did, all the soppy ****ers would go out of their heads "oh what a money grabbing bastard" etc
They'd soon be shot down though eh? We're all big boys, the truth shouldn't hurt anyone, it's lies and BS that are the problem.
Damned if they do, damned if they don't. If you ever expect a player, who's paid a small fortune every week, to say he wants to be somewhere else, you'll be even more disappointed.
