I think it did the job and we'll see a rethink on the increase. Could be wrong but I don't think the club want this negative publicity. I think it was a fantastic show of unity I only wish more had left.

Honestly given the day I would say yes. IF the entire stadium emptied it would have been good.

Do you guys think SoS or Spion Kop are actually surprised by the amount they got?

DO you think it might go a bit to the heads when a bit of cool thinking might say lets not go too far.

The owners will obviously want a successful buisness model, they will also want the fans to be happy. This isn't something that is getting out of hand it's a communication between the fans and the club that has become an issue that needs to be resolved. Nothing more.

singing greedy bastards at FSG is quite a bit more than communication. I have to wonder how that will be taken by FSG.

You are right Mito in that like say a union the supporters groups have to behave like a Union and sit round the table if invited back.

However...was this not part of the anger that for all FSG's talk of communication, of the introduction of the fan committee the price increases came without forwarning which suggests little discussion happened with those reps or it was ignored.

If negotiations fail then the fan committees need to be very clear what was offered or not and why it wasn't acceptable. I think weirdly they have recieved so much support because even non going fans of PL teams are asking themselves...exactly where is the money we pay to sky or BT going then?...as well as in a year where all the big clubs with big ticket fees have quite honestly been poor. We are seeing huge transfers on cack at all teams (bar maybe spurs).

We all feel we are paying a lot in and not getting a lot back.

If the action needs repeated or replicated across other teams I would suggest TV games only. Hits the advertisers...is covered by the pundits and news...puts pressure on the PL as well as clubs.

It is slightly different in that its not a union of workers its a union of paying punters... be they supporters, customers or whatever the club thinks of them.

There isn't a law covering this bar commercial rights and the choice not to attend.

Therefore yes the discussions and views seem to have been ignored or interpreted as being some pay so others get lower ticket prices rather than all tickets cost too much.

The only way forward in my view is to talk and the question then is does it take more to get FSG to properly sit down.

.........................................

now i'm not saying this to agree or disagree but I want to make another point.

This is a symptom of a wider issue.

I have called this league the diarrhoea league.... money goes in one end and washes straight out the other. IF we ask ok lets ignore the TV deal thats about to start. where did the last TV deal money go?

inflated transfers (many out of country so money goes out of our game)
Agents fees (money flows out of our game)
players wages (down the drain)

Every time theres a deal the wages go up. every time a new suger daddy turns up transfer fees inflate. the average wage must be 50k by now. LFC paid 20mil in agents fees last year.

Every club in the league sees this effect. Not every club charges such high ticket prices. most join in the merry go round.

The point is the TV deals are irrelevant to this discussion in my view as thay moeny is going to piss through the clubs and make players and agents rich. Its not going into owners pockets cos most clubs are run not to make profit.

Its all about other businesses.

Yeah...think we are agreeing there as I didn't mean a Union in the truest sense more that mass action is great to garner attention and support but it needs organisation and calm clinical heads around the table. Supporters are not likely to get everything they want in negotiations but as long as there is a clear unified message...sometimes difficult to achieve with such a varied and large group of people.

As for the TV money...it may be irrelevant in terms of it's current destination but fans just need to become a more dominant voice as another special interest on top of those you mention demanding their piece of the pie.

The PL cowardly basards that they are could help with formalised fan representation at the tv rights negotiation or ring fencing a percentage of the deal to go back to subsidise tickets but then thats where the clubs have so far vetoed any action..e.g. limiting away ticket prices.

The vote should be leaked so we can see exactly which of the 20 clubs voted against so their fans can target them...pretty sure ours is a culprit based on this latest nonsense.

Democracy in action. People vote with feet.

Once they keep walking out they are saying it's not enough.

I do agree that it would be nice for fans to own part of clubs here or have a director elected to board to represent.

If Kenny can be director then why not?

I understand only slightly how it works in Germany.

But it would seem the fans get a better deal there

Mancs freezing their ticket prices for next year.

Wonder if their fans think that is enough or just a PR stunt?
i would take that as a blatant pr stunt personally.

i would also be very worried thinking ok you have frozen ticket prices for next year, but are we going to pay for it season after when you hope all the fuss has died down by then and do as you please.

As someone from outside Liverpool I agree. If the ticket prices are cheaper I'm still only going to go maybe 4 or 5 time a season due to the additional travel costs and distance and time. Going to Anfield has always been something I have to save for and is a special treat for me and in the past the ticket prices meant that I could afford it now and then but with the increase in ticket prices I've been forced away and no longer go. I'm a passionate Liverpool fan who turned up and sang my heart out as it was something special to me. So as well as the locals the increase also loses fans like myself.

It does mean one less Welsh person in England though so swings and roundabouts :bandit:

Old trick...Make 200 an utterly ridiculous £77 so the thousands at prices between £40-£60 are not mentioned in the headlines. Literally for that very line: "it's only 200 seats"....hoping the debate in the media revolved around that and not on the entire increase. To make a false comparison where they think £50 will sound good...

Worked a treat for them lol..

Reminds me of something someone said about trainers and how companies have to price some trainers at £100 to make the £70 one seem reasonable value despite them pretty much being identical.

It's already excessive so whether it's PR or not makes little difference. They should be reducing prices as a payback to match going fans. Then it would be genuine, but it's not going to happen.

I get tickets off a ST holder friend £50 for both which isn't bad. But that depends on the match he doesnt want to go to. When I buy them otherwise for the North Stand I have to pay about £65-£70 for me and the littlun. You total that up for about 7/8 games a season and it's a fair chunk.

And that's without the return travel from China :bandit:

United certainly arent the most extortionate or most expensive for ticket prices but over the last 10 years I've seen lifelong fans give up their season tickets bcos they simply can't afford them or the cup games they've had to pay for. Thankfully there is still a heavy core of traditional support who are the vast majority but they're being rinsed quite frankly. I've lost track of ST prices simply bcos I know I'll never entertain buying them.

Yeah..i noticed you were actually below us on the table but as you say still ridiculous.

I thought it wouldn't be enough of a gesture but good to hear from the horses mouth.

@frank, we've been saying it for years, many locals have been priced out of seeing our club, I ain't slagging the supporters not from our area because they are part of the club family just like us, but FSG never acknowledge the fact that wages are lower here and trying to compete with London(southern)club's on ticket prices would, has and will always cause problems for them with local support.
I also think that categorising games based on the opposition should stop, one price per home game across the board.<ok>

Wow. Look at the "most expensive" North London tickets <yikes> Assuming the fans have to pay in instalments or get a loan, that's getting on for £200pcm!!!
