Always wanted to try there but just wondered if its welcoming to us lot? I've mentioned it to the Mrs a few times I'd like to try it! It's always full of Kurds obviously but never seen westerners in! So it's worth having a try?
According to Trip Advisor, the top three Indian restaurants are: Ruby Spice - Cott Rd Raj Pavilion - Bev Rd The Madras Restaurant - Anlaby Rd
Is this a piss take triple H? Over the the last 30 years that place has been closed down so many times. Is it legit?
Madras was ok for about the first 3 months it opened , the Chef left at some point and it went ****e , no idea what its like now as i don't return to places that turn bab. Forgot about Pavillion We had a bad experience in Ruby Spice (totally down to the owners decision in employing one chef and one waitress the night i booked a table for 16 ) the food was enjoyable and i remember telling the owner i'd pay £150 for the night because he seemed happy to discount me to £240 - i did warn him he wouldn't be happy with my payment
The food's good and there's generally a queue for the take-away, but there's never anyone eating in the restaurant, even on weekends. They're also about the most disorganised bunch ever to be in charge of a restaurant, I picked up a take away last week and while I was there they made one person the wrong drink and dropped and smashed another drink (there were only four people eating in total), then someone wanted their money back so they could go to Lara Bellas for a pizza because they'd been waiting over half an hour longer than they'd been told and when I got home there was a dish missing.
30 years? It only opened in the late 90s. I lived on Mayfield street back then. It always looks a bit grim from the outside to me, but gets good reviews.
I may have been exaggerating the time i dunno . But I'm sure it has been open longer than that. It has definitely been shut a few times over the years for poor hygiene. It stuck in my mind a line from HDM about the cooks wearing boiler suits dirtier than a mechanic.
I'm off tonight to pick up amongst other things a Lamb Naga. They are a bit disorganised but the food is pretty bloody good. I have seen the restaurant fairly busy, but we use it quite a bit. They come from Bradford every day, everything is prepared freshly, which I think you can tell. I had 4 Christmas cards off them in December
I know what you mean and I can't claim to be a regular patron, but pale skins do go in there. Just get takeaway if you're not sure. I guess there were similar misgivings when Indians first opened? We on about the same place? Didn't think it had a bad rep. I don't care anyway. If I find a hair in me takeaway I just eat around it.
Tempted by the place opposite the Cod, I'm dropping in on my 72 year old mum before the game (surprise visit) so that would be handy.
Its been a restaurant for years. Lots of different names. Didnt know if it was the same owner just different names. If you're going from Alderley surely you just go to Bradford rather than onto Leeds?? I like Bradford cos they dont do rice with your curry, usually Chapatis. Great stuff. I think the bloke who lives near me owns it.
Tempted by the place opposite the Cod, I'm dropping in on my 72 year old mum before the game (surprise visit) so the Tandoor would be handy. Just about to book a hotel in the town with parking.
