He signed for Betis last week - and even that was a monumental pain in the culo, as he was a free agent yet Santos took him to court to try and get a fee of £11.3m for him!
I bet this guy does not even exist. Just seen a helicopter flying over my house....I'm excited, wonder who it could be.
The good news is his contract with Betis expires in June, so he'll be a free agent for the second time in 2016. That should only set us back around £7m. Was this helicopter black and unmarked? If so, it was probably Sky Sports scouting who they'll be linking to Man Utd next. It'll probably be Levy at this rate...
Dumb headline of the day: Why Tottenham Could Regret The Departure Of This Defender - not just because of the awful grammar, which I have replicated in all it's...whatever the antonym of glory is, but because it's about Fazio. Yeesh, how many things are wrong with that? Let's start with... i.) Alderweireld is a much better fit for our team in every way ii.) The only reason Fazio was signed was because a deal for Musaccio fell apart due to third-party shenanigans and Moreno had a broken leg iii.) Dier is also a much better fit for the team when he's deployed at centre back iv.) Fazio being paid £45k p/w wages made him one of the club's higher earners, despite being a stop gap signing v.) Paying £45k a week to our third-choice right-sided centre back is madness - in comparison, CCV is on £10k p/w ...oh, and Ademola Lookman has signed a four-year contract with Charlton.
The suggestion is that Pellegrini is, and always was, a stop-gap manager - that he came in under the expectation that he would stay for only as long as it took Pep to decide to join. None of us will know if this is true or not, but it would explain why £ity have acted in the way they have, and why Pellegrini appears to be non-fazed by the news.
Am I alone in being peeved by the fact that Pritchard has been made part of an offering with a view to getting Berahino ?? If a serious Europa/FA Cup campaign is intended, his free-kick and general never say die attitude is what we need at the business end of the season.
He's been out so long, I wonder how long it'll take to get him up to speed this season. Best to have him ready to help defend the title next year?
I'd tend to agree with SD. At WBA, once he's match fit he has a good chance of playing regular football. With us, he'd more than likely be warming his arse on a bench.
Jeez, I've just got in from work and SSN sound more desperate than ever. "We're expecting the unexpected", "only a few hours to go, could big signings be on their way?" Blah blah blah. In reality, even they've realised that deadline day isn't what it used to be, but they've gotta keep the viewing figures up. Nothing big is gonna happen. We'd have found something out by now.
"In reality, even they've realised that deadline day isn't what it used to be, but they've gotta keep the viewing figures up. Nothing big is gonna happen." A pre-planned Natalie Sawyer bra underwiring malfunction to assist on that front (sic) ??
What's the big deal with the January transfer window, any way? Nothing big ever happens. The biggest news we've had, so far, is that Pep will be joining £ity... in the Summer! Otherwise, it's been the usual diet of a few fringe signings, and a shuffling around of some loan deals. Why do the media outlets always whip themselves up into a masturbatory frenzy at this time of year? It's embarrassing!
We have too many talented midfielders. While it’s a good problem to have, any way to hold on to a player who could become important to us when there aren’t minutes to give him is a good one. We bit the bullet and sold Townsend despite my suspicion he’ll be successful on the left. Chadli, Son and Lamela are pushing hard for the one open starting spot, given that Eriksen, Dembélé, Dier and Alli look nailed on. Carroll is proving a very capable reserve player and Onomah needs more minutes. Mason is coming back soon. Loaning out Bentaleb as well might be a good move, frankly. There’s no doubting his talent, but I’m not sure anyone knows where he should play. He’s not a DM. He could be the other deep lying player, but there’s too much competition on our team. The place he looked best suited was LB, in the one game he played there, IMO. It’s true we’re well stocked there, but I don’t think it’s a certainty that Rose and Davies are better.
A dose of Pulis isn't necessarily a bad thing. If nothing else, it'll make Pritchy realise he'll have to keep working hard to keep his future away from those quarters.
So, the sun is setting across the United Kingdom. Is it time for players to use the cover of darkness to sneak around and make a deadline day move? (Comment on the BBC's Football web page) Desperate, desperate stuff from the BBC!
And let me tell you that our very own Phil McNulty is hammering the phone lines. I've just passed his desk and he's putting in the calls and exchanging plenty of texts with club media officers. He's all over it if anything was to happen. (Comment on the BBC's Football web page) I can state, with quite some degree of confidence, that Phil McNumpty is the last person that any club official is going to be contacting before an official deal is done, at which point they will be contacting just about everyone.
"What's the big deal with the January transfer window, any way? Nothing big ever happens." Some of the deals are great, but only once we are wise after the event. Think of Cisse signing for the Toon in 2012. Few were aware of him and his abilities. N weeks and a few WTF goals later, THEN we know the signing was great.
