It is absolutely gift wrapped for him to dominate world football at Man City. I never had any doubt it would be Man City he would chose. They have put the work into the sponsorship, renaming the stadium, all the community work, academy. The work behind the scenes has been perfect really. On top of that, the squad they have built is already highly impressive and attack based. He has the pull and the money to bring in some of the best players from around the world.
Newly Promoted Watford have spent around 34 million. Just in January!!! After bringing in a new manager and pretty much a whole new squad in the summer. The Premier League is out of control!!
I think that's the speculate to accumulate philosophy. Villa aside, there's been some significant spending amongst the bottom half sides.
Just what I was thinking HQMC. It's going to be an interesting run in to the end of the season to see which players have been worthwhile buys and which have turned out to be a waste of money.
Wait until next yer, when the club finishing bottom of the pile still collects £90m, I think I heard last night! Imagine the extortionate fees for players when the league is even more awash with cash than it already is!
Newcastle and Watford both individually outspent La Liga. Mad. I think the big thing going forwards is actually going to be getting rid of players. Even the bottom Prem clubs are going to end up with players on wages that makes them deeply unattractive to anybody outside of the league. It'll probably end with players being moved on whilst the original club still pays an awful lot in wages.
I know we can't sign anyone on loan now, but can we send players out on loan who are not likely to feature here at all? I feel so sorry for Lafferty and his N. Ireland manager, who needs regular games to prepare him for the Euros in summer. The one thing we know - he ain't gonna get a solitary sniff by staying here Maybe Whittaker, as we have Pinto, Wisdom and Martin in that RB position and that should be more than enough.
I think there's another "Emergency Loan Window", which starts in about a week. Presumably Leeds will finally get that loan for Lafferty then.
S something iv thought about a lot. Really going to make problems for ourselves as a league. Imagine if Man City go for Messi, Pogba and the like. All new era of transfer fees, wages and agent fees.
Well this doesn't bode well: please log in to view this image please log in to view this image "Despite the signing of Steven Naismith and Timm Klose for a combined £16m, as well as a loan deal for Patrick Bamford, Norwich's percentage chance of staying up went down 21 per cent from 88 to 67 over January, thanks in no small part to three defeats out of four in the Premier League." http://www.skysports.com/football/n...premier-league-than-one-per-cent-aston-villa?
Everton go 1-0 up. Lukaku misses a penalty, but Lennon scores. Youth team losing 3-1 and 2nd half just started. Edit - Aberdeen go 2-0 up against Celtic!!!
Phew - Everton now 2-0 up. Barkley penalty. We can breathe again!! Comment on BBC website - "Dan Bell: Taxi for McClaren, out of his depth."
