Get off our board!
Love it! The "hatred" of Pompey is a quite recent thing really. When we were their little cousins up the road while they played with big boys (50's I'm talking here) they patronised us and we took it. We even didn't mind them winning. They were beating teams that we'd never meet, we thought, stuck down in Division 3 South. Then bloody Ted Bates got us promoted and it all kicked off. Instead of being proud that their little cousins had joined them on the playground they resented it - and then more so when they got kicked out of the playground. But naffed off as I am with them, I can't hate them. I resent the fact that they owe HMRC more than Google, but that's not the fault of their fans, so I just pity them.
So, let them have their day in the sun, but stay in Division 4. As for Bournemouth, I was broken hearted and will never forgive the place. Logic, eh? Where did it go?
Lambo - excellent use of the correct term "Division 4," but allowing a young lass to cloud your footballing views? Tst!!
No one mentioning the little what would have once been an all Hants skirmish? Allow me. I'm backing Pompey. This is partly because I didn't share the love affair with Bournemouth in the last couple of years. Nothing to do with football, but was hurt by a girl from there when I was 17! Also, I'd love Pompey to go on a cup run and bugger up their promotion ambitions. Pathetic, I know.
I went to the Saints-Skates game in season 75-76, and I don't remember any animosity - maybe because I`d just arrived in Soton, and wasn`t aware of it. I think my animosity now is mostly because of Redknapp, which isn`t fair I guess.
I suppose I can see your point Lambo. There was a Saints supporter on one of the Saints forums who actually had the temerity to hate Matt Le Tissier, just because he thought MLT had once made a beeline for his girlfriend in a nightclub. Years later he had realised that he'd been wrong but he couldn't shift his hatred of MLT. There's logic for you.
I've always liked Bournemouth. I've liked it as a seaside town, when as a visiting kid during the summer, and that has just spilled over into adulthood. I never really thought much of the town as one which keeps a football club, but my overall liking for the place just carries over. I love the idea that they went from Division 4 to Division 1 in 6 seasons. It's fantastic, just like our own success, and perhaps even better in truth, as it is a massive success for such a small club. Yeah, it's fair to say I have a soft spot for AFCB.
But that doesn't mean I hate Pompey either. I don't subscribe to any jibes. If I say anything against them it really is tongue firmly in cheek. All the genuine hatred is a fairly modern day contrivance, from about the late 70's onwards, and hopefully the fashion for it will eventually die, so that we can celebrate the strength and properity of all the South Coast teams from Brighton AHA to Plymouth Argyle, with every club in between.
However, today I wanted Bournemouth to win, simply because they've never been in this position before. Portsmouth have. So let's let another club have its turn in the limelight.
Except West Ham will beat Liverpool in the replay.Wonderful draw for Shrewsbury!! Enjoy it Shrews fans and I hope you survive in Division 1. Good Lancashire derby Blackburn v Liverpool. Would be great if Arsenal and Tottenham kicked off at the same time on the Saturday but feel Tottenham's will be moved back because of Europa League commitments.
Except West Ham will beat Liverpool in the replay.

MK Dons 1-11 Premier League
Ooops! It was just that I saw Liverpool first in the either or. Maybe, maybe not. That one may well go to penalties with Adam slotting in the deciding penalty.![]()
You determined to spoil my day? I will be a Hammers fan for this one (both) partly because Liverpool get up my nose and Blackburn fans have the same effect. Mostly though cos its yer West Ham, and 50 years ago they won the World Cup. Be good to have them back at Wembley
Oh and Liverpool is not in Lanashire. North West derby possible.
