He wouldn't be the first player to struggle in his early days at Spurs and then over a period of time, proceed to become a great success here. I remember the same happening to greats such as Alan Mullery and Martin Chivers, to name just two.

Very true OS but I've never seen such an obvious example of a player struggling with a managerial system. Usually they are just adjusting to pace and team mates, or culture and climate.

Brilliant news. What an influence on the pitch.

We need players with mental strength for the rest of the season. This boy is going to be key along with the likes of Lioris for the title challenge.

Poch's said we won't be signing a centre back to cover for Verts' injury. While this makes a lot of sense, as it says Wimmer will be getting a run of games for the next 6-8 weeks, what's interesting is Poch also mentioned CCV by name. Cue rampant speculation about a Wimmer/CCV pairing for the Colchester game.

Fazio's being courted by Sevilla, Roma and Fiorentina. Hopefully we sell him to Roma, given they're the only team on that list who aren't in the Europa League - because we can all see what'd happen if he signed for the other options...

Rotherham are set to extend Grant Ward's loan yet again.

More likely he'd become a one-man embodiment of the 1991-2 Milan back four. Then nick a goal from a corner.

Dembélé was also very good his first year with us. It’s true that AVB seemed to have a terrible effect on his play. He was still very hard to dispossess but for some reason both his dribbles and his passes mostly went sideways. Now he’s moving the ball forward quickly and effectively. He began to do so sometime last year, but was benched, I think harshly for making one mistake.

For whatever it’s worth, WhoScored rates Dembélé as the third best player in the PL and Squawka rates him seventh. My eyes are at least on the same page with that. He’s better at winning the midfield battle than any other player this year, and by a fair margin. It’s funny Hazard saying a couple of years ago that Dembélé was better than he was. That seemed very strange last year. This year Dembélé has been far better.

Up until Sandro's injury @ Qpr, he and Dembele formed a partnership of beasts. Had that injury not happened our history could have been very different. If AVB had taken us into CL where would things have gone?

Dembele is a player I've always greatly admired and I was really happy we signed him. What happened to him subsequently has been confusing. I couldn't believe I was watching the same player that I'd seen dominate so many of Fulham's performances, at times.

Anyhow, wherever he got lost to, he now looks fitter, sharper, and at least the player he was, if not more! He's a massive asset to our team and I hope we can keep him fit and firing on all cylinders.

Pritchard linked with a loan move to either Burnley, Brighton or Middlesbrough.

Sky are now reporting that dembele is undergoing a medical, however, he'll be going back to Fulham on loan. - So this doesn't help us at all!
I guess Dembele is the player we want for the future, but we'll be getting a loan player in for the rest of the season? Surely?! <yikes>

Surely. No? Surely. When does this window close?

(Levy must know that if we don't, and Kane gets injured, and we don't get top four this year of all years then he/the management will look really bad. But could Poch genuinely feel that Son/Chadli* is cover enough? I just about find that situation imaginable).

*Who's never played there has he?

Infamously turned his back on the Union Jack when WBA played a friendly abroad. Booed by his own supporters. If he did that to Sandro's flag I'm guessing booing wouldn't be his problem.

I think we've seen enough from Son to know he's far better when occupying a wide position, rather than leading the line. He's not a lone target man and doesn't like to have his back to goal.
As for Chadli, There's no getting away from the fact that he pops up with the odd goal or assist every now and again. I just don't feel he contributes enough over 90 mins of football. If we're looking for back up for Kane, we need Chadli offering the same work rate and the ability to be a dangerous target man. Personally, I don't think he'll give us that. I can't help but feel that despite Chadli's size and physique, he'll be more concerned about ruining his pristine hair. <laugh>
I guess we'll have to trust Poch on that one, he sees him train every day. The worst thing we could have seen today was Chadli getting 2 goals and an assist, 2 days before deadline day!!! <laugh>

The news today is that Dembele is having a medical, (so he's pretty much signed). But I wouldn't be surprised if the exact details of the deal are kept quiet, in terms of whether he's going back on loan or not, in order to help our bargaining position on deadline day with other clubs.
The guy is 19, so loaning him back isn't actually a bad idea at all. It didn't do Dele Alli any harm! The difference being that no one really cared with Alli, because we had so many midfielders. Not the case this time!!!

Even with Levy's track record, I'll be amazed if sufficient back up for Kane isn't taken care of.
