Given that there have been a few names rumoured to be signing, who would you prefer?

Ferdinand, but he won't join because of a number of things like wages and he'd want to stay in the Prem etc etc. Kilgallon would be very good if we can restore his old form. I know nothing about Ammar Jemal (in fact, I'd never even heard of him before we were linked with him) so I can't say whether or not he'd be good for us. If we sign him, ask in a few months.

Not sure that we would want to pay Ferdinands wages if he was available, although probably the best player out of the 3 there. Hard to comment on Jemmal though.

    Agree.

Jemmal I've never seen so I can't really comment either...

Kilgallen did seem like a good promising player in his early days at Leeds but has since slipped...

Ferdinand, experienced, big, tall etc... But wages would be stumbling block...

I worry about Ferdinand being too much of a big time charlie and upsetting the balance of the squad so that's a no.

Matt Kilgallen has been out of form for about a year now. He could be good but I don't think it's worth taking the risk unless he'll be a back-up centre half, so not too keen on him either.

Jamel, i've never heard of before until he was linked to us, so have no idea what to make of him. If the scouts reckon he's good, he probably is, but is it worth the risk? Not sure. He could be another Michael Svensson but then he could be another Pele...

No-one IMO, we've got enough quality in the squad at the moment. Fonte is just classy, Martin looked assured on Saturday, Seaborne looked OK and did a good job last season plus Cork can play there too as cover. Jaidi is possibly the weakest link but he still has his uses and is superb in the air.
Finally, we must have somebody in the development squad who could step in at some point - I think Racine is one for the future but he could probably step up if required.

I think we could easily hold our own next season with what we've got in every position and if Connolly stays fit, we could aim at top six possibly.

Given that nobody saw Steve De Ridder coming, I think the new CB will also be someone unexpected, and probably from Europe.

I wont be too dissapointed if we dont sign anyone else. We have 4 good strikers, and if we sign another one then 2 of them will be very unhappy at missing out on the squad each week. Lambert and Connolly is a great strike partnership!

I would like to see Matt kilgallen sign for Us... ressurect his career, he has a good understanding of the championship and the prospect of a fonte and killgallen partnership looks mouth watering!! esp if killgallen can get back to near his best for leeds!

I agree but it's intriguing about the missing number 5 in the squad list. We surely must have someone lined up for that?

Ferdinand and Kilgallon are both paid more than the highest earner at the club. So I don't think there is any chance of them moving down.

I don't agree, only Fonte is made out for the Championship. Jaidi is too slow, Martin is too inexperienced and Seaborne isn't any better than League 1 level.

Of the three, Jemmal is the most likely, but until he signs on the dotted line, I won't believe it.

Jemmal won't need a work permit, maybe it's just his registration that's taking a while. Unless he failed the medical!

What Martin needs is game time - if he gets enough this season, he will gain the experience needed. How is anyone supposed to progress in football if the tag inexperienced keeps getting thrown at them? He has lots of potential which he can fulfil with the right coaching, and there is experience in the centre back department to compensate for Martin's lack of it whilst he learns from them.

I think Jemal is the only one who would fit seamlessly into our squad. Morale seems very high ATM and bringing in a high earner with a reputation could rock the boat.

But as mentioned, the only signings NC and NA make are ones no one has any clue about!

That's what the loan system is for. You loan a player out, they get experience.

I agree with you about the inexperienced tag and how can how can anyone progress if they don't get a chance etc. I think Martin does have potential and should get a chance, but but not yet at Championship level, it's too early for him. He would benefit greatly if he went out on loan to a League 1 or 2 side as he hasn't even had that much experience outside of non-league. He's young and still got a bright future at Saints but it's too early just to stick him in there alongside Fonte and expect him to perform!
