Yup. He’s a character, alright. The entertainment value of Adebayor to Palace is high, to me. I agree it’s likely he’ll make a great start. If so, I’d enjoy him scoring against a number of teams. City, Arsenal, West Ham and Liverpool come to mind. On the other hand, Pardew and Adebayor does not seem a match made in heaven, to put it mildly. It reminds me of Rodgers and Balotelli, only worse. I have to admit I was surprised he only needs 8 goals to overtake Drogba as the highest African scorer in the PL.

On the con front, I remember reading the story of a man in Persia who began a successful career as a doctor by intervening when he saw a man sparked out in a collision. He explained to the anxious crowd that the man was dead already, but it was just possible his tremendous healing powers could bring him back to life.
Good luck to Townsend, except against us, of course. I never saw an athlete who had the particular problem he did: the relatively few times he did what he could do well, which is use his pace and dribbling to stretch defenses, he was quite a good player. But he simply couldn’t get past going onto his left foot and uncorking useless shots. I think all his problems could have been solved by playing him on the left. The couple of times I saw him there for us he was very good. He’s so two-footed he actually shoots much better with his weaker foot. I would think Newcastle would play him there. I also think the reason we didn’t is that until we bought Son, every single one of our midfielders we bought since Bale left were better on the left than on the right. And good luck to Adebayor as well. I found him infuriating as a Spur the last couple of years, but I find him sympathetic as a human being, and enjoyed many goals he scored for us.

I think Andros' international career got in the way of his club career. Scoring 20 or 25 yarders for England ensured Roy would keep picking him. Instead of doing what his club manager wanted, he seemed to be doing what, I suspect, he believed Roy wanted from him. In the end he was no bloody use to us as he'd become a one trick pony, whose one trick didn't work any more. By the end he didn't work back and just ran the ball into blind allies or belted it into the crowd. There was a EL game this season where we'd have been better off with 10 men. It's a shame. When he came back from QPR, I thought he'd really kick on. Anyway, good luck to the lad. I hope he gets it back on track and has a long and successful career for club and country. COYS!
James Maddison's name keeps cropping up on some of the lesser known media outlets (which often end up being more accurate!). Claiming we see him as another Dele Alli. Not seen anything of him if I'm honest, I knew of Alli before our interest but this lad has sort of come out of nowhere. Played 23 games for Coventry, scoring 4 times according to Wiki, any lower league experts here with any info on him? Same applies for Ademola Lookman, young Charlton striker who has 3 goals in 9 games. Looks as though we're going down the young potential route this window - not surprising seeing how well we're doing with our current side - with Dembele, Maddison and Lookman being on the radar, the former looks the most likely to sign at the moment.
Ben Chilwell's name has suddenly popped up - while he's a good prospect, and there's obvious wiggle room as the papers are all too happy to report his wages couldn't afford a weekly Travelcard, we already have Davies and Rose at left back, plus we've been scouting Rico Henry for a while.
Yeah I don't quite get the Chilwell link, both our fullbacks are currently better and Davies is only a couple years older than him. Unless one of our lads is making a surprise exit any time soon, Chilwell isn't really a player we need to be looking at in my opinion, especially if we're monitoring Rico Henry.

I think the idea is to pay a moderate price, play them occasionally to rest starters with no cover (Kane and Wimmer), and hope they eventually develop into top players. If so, it’s a hard strategy to argue with, at least in the case of the CB. I wonder if Moussa II would win us any games that some combination of forwards like Son and Chadli wouldn’t, though. Still, 5 million looks like a very reasonable price for a 19 year old striker who’s scored 9 so far in the Champ̱ionship with a weak team. Looking at his stats, it seems he’s a big threat in the air who can pick a pass. Incidentally, it seems our 28 year old star Mousa has sometimes spelled his name, or had his name spelled, with two esses. I had thought that was the right spelling until Moussa II came along. It would certainly be nice to have both Bamdele Alli and Moussa Dembélé as DM/strikers. Total football and all that.
I hope the first time they play together (if he signs) that it is televised. Some quick one-twos between them would make for an excellent commentary.
So, Mauricio is 'sick' and not able to hold a press conference. He looked okay in Spain. Looked very well in fact. If he is well, I wonder where he could be? In a London Hotel with 'new striker'? Very intriguing!!
