Its a nice morning in Coxhoe, good dog walking weather and Osca and I enjoyed our morning walk today.

Will be good to put this never ending summer break behind us and get back to football, it seems to have been forever since we had a meaningful game to enjoy and the excitement of the transfer window is well behind us, there are only so many permutations you can discuss on the N’Zogbia saga, I hope he is a hit wherever he ends up after all the drama, or should that be soapopera, involved in this never ending transfer.

We have Kilmarnock, I expect to be starting to form our starting 11, Hartlepool a game I am far from sure on what to expect then Hibs, the game I am gracing with my presence and one I would expect us to start with near enough our first 11.

2 weeks ago I think we all knew that O’Shea and Brown would start against Liverpool, injuries throw that into doubt, I’m sure I have heard that before.

We knew it would be N’Zog on the left, well who knows on that one.

At least we all knew about the strikeforce with Gyan and our new signing, badly needed with Wickham being young and that Ji fella, well we all knew he had no chance, a definite one for the future, then he goes and produces MOTM performances.

One thing is for sure, our summer slumber is about to be shattered, we could not have planned it for a more explosive start, Liverpool away with their new team and Jordan waiting.

Then that always exciting first home game of the season, usually a good crowd with everyone looking forward to getting back to football and seeing the new players. A decent atmosphere that slowly builds as we all get back into the swing of things. We hope for a win but hey, its the first game so a good performance is the main priority, well maybe not this time.

We could leave that first game on a cloud, a good point or even a win against Liverpool followed by a resounding win in our first home game, 4 or even 6 points and top 6 in table.

    OR

We could be sick and ready to read the Bruce out threads, beaten by Liverpool then humiliated by Newcastle, 0 points and rock bottom of the table.

My wish is an absolute minimum of a good performance against Liverpool and a win at all cost in our first home game, 3 points and mid table will do for me.

I can feel those summer cobwebs starting to clear.

    Morning Sydney :)

I think to be fair the majority of us would not be massively surprised if we lost the first game away at Liverpool. Let's face it, they have strengthened, we are notoriously poor away, and they will definitely be top 4 contenders.

However, anything less than 3 points at home against the mags is a failure after last season, and would be a terrible start to the season. Let's hope that just once the side that Brucey puts out realizes how much that game means to us and gets stuck in.

After a spectacular hat-trick from Sess and one from Ji, we can celebrate a 3-4 win at Anfield... that'll set them up nicely. I'll even through in a cheeky 1-0 for the Mags in their opening game...

I fancy us to have 2 points after 2 games.

A solid point at Anfield (they'll likely be without Suarez and Gerrard, and therefore be average), and a disappointing 1-1 with the beloved's.

Suarez is (supposedly) being given a couple of weeks as he's played right through the summer with Uruguay (and been magnificent helping them win the thing in style..), whereas Gerrard isn't in full training as yet, and is highly unlikely to be match fit.
