As back up for what? We've got mediocre back up strikers already, it's someone capable of replacing Hernandez that we need, is it not?
I suspect he was transfer listed for non footballing reasons. His goal scoring record is about as good as you'll get for a relatively cheap fee. Scunts I know rave about him - he's a striker that has mostly played on the wing this season due to Robbins - yet he's still managed to score 16 goals in 33 games in a **** side.
If we sign another goal scorer like Bamford, will this mean Brucey will go two up top? Otherwise I imagine he'd have a hard time convincing Bamford or anybody to come here on the off chance that Hernandez gets injured.
Possibly, and I don't think it'd be a bad thing. Diame has done brilliantly playing in the hole recently but he's more of a normal central midfielder I'd say. Only Jake has stood out playing proper central midfield so drop Diame back and go with Abel and Pat up front. Immaterial anyway as I doubt Bamford will be coming here, I think if he doesn't get a premier league move then Boro is a more likely destination, unless they succeed in getting McCormack.
They may end up with Bamford and McCormack. There'll be a few who **** their pants on here if that happens.
I hope they do,they will both want to start. imagine what it will do to the team spirit and players like Nugent who hasn't been there only a few months himself when they find themselves on the bench after working hard with getting the team into the top two.
He was transfer listed by a **** Yeovil team who had scored the fewest goals in the Championship because he's ****. Paddy Bamford isn't experienced enough to play in a Championship promotion-chasing team despite scoring 25 goals in 62 games in this league, yet Paddy Madden, who played a grand 9 games and scored zero goals, is. Christ alive...
Read all the posts before commenting. You'll note that Madden has played considerably more league football than Bamford and has a 1 in 3 record. Madden may well be the next Danny Ings or Charlie Austin. Glad you're not a manager - lower league players like Madden or our very own Clucas would never get a chance. Clucas is more than good enough for this league. How many knock backs has he had?
Yeah, in League 1, League 2 and the Irish divisions. He's first and only stint in he Championship was ****e, which suggests he's found his level in League 1. Austin had never played in the Championship before he signed for Burnley and he got 16 goals in his first full season, nor had Ings and Clucas. In fact, all three players you mentioned have never suffered career knock backs, they've all progressed and done well. God forbid, if Hernandez gets injured I'd rather play Akpom, Luer or even Aluko as a sole striker before considering signing Paddy Madden.
I don't, clearly. Though successful players often come from lower leagues, something you seem unable to grasp. Our team is full of players who started in a lower league. Clucas - released by Leicester City and Lincoln City Austin - released by Reading as a youth team player Ings - released by Southampton as a youth player joined Bournemouth in League one I'd say they are knock backs. Closer to home there's our very own knock back King Dean Windass. He was released by us, played for Ferriby, re-signed by us, sold to keep us afloat, came back to fire us to the PL for the first time in our history. Just because a player doesn't get it right first time, doesn't mean they should be discarded. Stuart Elliott is another who prospered despite knock backs, as did arguably our best captain in recent times Ashbee.
Not at all but in the case of Paddy Madden, he wasn't good enough for Yeovil who got relegated, let alone a team top of the league looking to get promoted. Accusing me of lacking knowledge of players when you discard a young striker whose record in this division is almost one in two for being 'inexperienced' is ****ing hilarious though.
He is inexperienced adding to two already inexperienced players in Diomande and Akpom. Last season Bamford played with experienced centre forwards Kike, Tomlin and Vossen. I'd much rather have an experienced CF Crouch or even Bendtner and a player like Madden as an additional 'back up'. Go back and check the posts. Players who have been there and got the T Shirt. Like when we signed the Bolton players Jay Jay Okocha and Pedersen. Season finish that calls for cool heads. Cooler heads come from players that have been there before.
To be clear, I don't accuse Diomande of not achieving anything as it is not how I judge, but he is 25 and has played in the Norwegian Elite league extensively. I see no point in comparing him with Luer.
