I've not been a fan of Woodwood since way back in the day. I doubt there's anything of merit you've ever said that hasn't already crossed my mind!

Woodward snubbed by Neymar. After being just a whisker away from an agreement with Woodward (in Woodward's head) Neymar has renaged on his promise and now seems likely to renew his Barca contract. All that hard work down the drain, Woodie must be feeling gutted........

In short, as of the moment, money is important than winning for the team.
The very best players will always play for Real and Barca as long as the two clubs want them. They now earn so much money that even a monster salary can't tempt them to move anywhere else. To be fair if I had the choice of £200k a week to live in Barca or £300k a week to live in England then I'd be lunching in Las Ramblas in a heartbeat!
A few months on, Ed Woodward has delivered this time around, credit where it's due, he's got the players Jose Mourinho wanted, before the start of the season as well.
At last he's realised that given United 's predicament, there was no point saving a few millions here and there. The key point was to get the players needed. And I have said this since the day Moyes and Woodward were appointed: United will NEVER get a bargain. Any player fancied by United will have their prices upped by at least 20-30%.
I think another key issue was that JM knew exactly who he wanted, possibly he wanted them and scouted them at Chelsea too, but he knew in his mind exactly who he wanted Woody to get. Moyes and LvG both seemed not to have a clue what type of player the squad needed (and that,possibly, is why we ended up playing the terrible football that we did under both of them). Pogba seems different, the board played a long game to try and get him back and Woody must have played a great part in that, so, again, credit where credit is due.
LVG's transfer approach was completely scattergun.
Getting rid of Welbeck was an early sign that he was making it up as he went along.
Signing Di Maria and Falcao simply because they were available was another warning sign.
I'll give him credit for Blind but Herrera and Shaw weren't his signings. Depay and Schneiderin have potential but he ruined the former and I doubt the latter was his choice anyway.

LVG was an enigma. Such a good manager before yet as a United manager somehow transformed into some weird coach obsessed with possession. He ultimately was worse than Moyes.
