TBH I'm just enjoying it from a (fairly) neutral perspective. A Chelsea wins gotta be better for us as much as I hate to say that.

Chelsea have been far too happy with it being 1-0.
I'm sure they're hoping to pick Arsenal off late, as they extend themselves, but they could've killed this game.

Surely the points are worth more to Wenger than preserving a GD ??
Things are settled come May far more often on points than GD.

    A good weekend for Spurs.
Goes some way to lessening the annoyance at the Leicester snatch theft at WHL.

We'd be top of the league now if we'd have won that.
That makes it even more annoying, for me.

"We'd be top of the league now if we'd have won that."

They have kept their gap, but more importantly the others did not also distance
or gain on us. An FA Cup tie to recharge the batteries before the Norwich game.
    Onwards and upwards.

Annoying as it is Leicester have got where they are by doing what they did to us to everybody else.Ranieri is up there with George Graham when it comes to negative football. I'll still be amazed if we don't finish above them.

They don't always play like that, though. Ranieri's been very good this season at choosing how to play in individual games.
They've only got the league to concentrate on now and their squad's not as light as everyone makes out.
Everyone expects them to fall away and it still might happen, but it's amazing that they're up there now.

Fair enough I have not seen much of them against others but he's always been a negative bastard from what I have seen of him, starting with Chelsea.
Having watched Leicester against Spurs I no longer wish them success as underdogs I just wish they would take their dogs and find a lampost further down the league.

I'm sorry but Wenger is such a ****er. He saw clearly that Costa got Mertesaker sent off but couldn't see if there was contact. And when the interviewer asked whether taking off Giroud was a mistake he said "you clearly know better than me". What does he expect journalists to ask him?

He's just a snotty little bitch. Smug in victory and petulant in defeat.

Mertesacker knew if he went for that tackle and didn't get the ball, he'd be in trouble. You may have noticed he didn't protest the red card.

Costa made the most of it, but you'd expect that!..

If you watch, Mertesacker checks for offside about half a second before lunging in. This seems to make him miss the ball. It's really weird that he did that

Yes, I did see that. What I said above may be the reason he had a quick look before committing to the tackle.

Top 4's next four PL games:

    Leicester: Liverpool (H), Man City (A) , Arsenal (A), Norwich (H)
Man City: Sunderland (A), Leicester (H), Tottenham (H), Newcastle (A)
Arsenal: Southampton (H), Bournemouth (A), Leicester (H), Man Utd (A)
Spurs: Norwich (A), Watford (H), Man City (A), Swansea (H)

The teams above us will take points off each other so it seems abundantly clear, if we knuckle down these next couple of fixtures and go into the City game with good form, things could happen. No matter what the outcome, February is going to have massive implications on the run in. COYS!!!

Just because there's been some question about any contact in the Mertesacker red card foul:

Clearly gets his left foot. Probably not enough to cause the endless rolls that followed it, admittedly.

  19. Just back from treating the family to a massive night out. Caught the Arsenal v Chelsea result and ordered another bottle of Bollinger!

That's a great result for us.

I know it's tempting fate, but there is every reason for the lads to believe that they can win the league! If, after their next 4 games, Leicester are still in top spot, they will deserve to win the league; but I'm going to put my neck on the line and say, right here right now, it won't happen. The title is between us, Arsenal, and £ity.

  20. Point is, he completely missed the ball, went in from behind, and made contact. It was, at best, reckless. Clear red.
