I have a strong feeling the club are working furiously in the background regarding a striker and we'll find out shortly... the worry though, is of what quality. Will it be good enough? Hopefully not just for the sake of signing someone.

However, Valley, it could be that our (normal) style of play suits him better, and enables him to flourish, whereas elsewhere, that hasn't been the case?

 

I disagree on Borini. Did the job at Championship level but has shown very little since. I can understand the observations on him being wrongly used at Liverpool but he's had plenty of opportunities at Sunderland. Does anyone think he would bring the goals to get us out of this mess? No, I don't either. Overrated by our fans, I think.

Onazi has been looked at by us for a while. Great player with a lot of promise, but do we need a holding midfielder? He's very creative though.

Slightly off topic I see Cardiff's latest loan signing Lex Emmers is delighted to be joining the biggest club in Wales. Should fit in well then as he is as deluded as the rest of them.

 

True. I am not convinced really either. But I think I would prefer him to Gomis.

 

I think one of our striker deal has already been done and not announced ....with Palace , Gomis for Gayle .

Let's be honest, guys.....very little I'm reading here tells me we're getting someone in who can actually turn things around

 

Agree. He's worth a punt as a back up striker but we need somebody proven at the top level.

 

Attacking midfielder Gastón Ramírez is being heavily linked to us.

Sounds realistic as well. Why?
- Cheap. His contract is up in the summer = either a cheap deal now or a 5 month loan with the possibility of signing him on a free this summer.
- Pedigree.....he is a 25 year old Uruguay international who had his pick of clubs before joining Southampton for £12m
- Serie A experience with Bologna....So is known to Frank and probably speaks a smattering of Italian
- Fits our long standing criteria of signing hungry players with something to prove (having flopped in the Prem with Southampton you'd imagine this was the case)

He was on the verge of a return to Serie A this summer when Middlesboro started talking to him. We are rumored to have gatecrashed these talks.
