"According to The Sun, Watford are in pole position to land Swansea City winger Jefferson Montero - because Everton won't match their £10m offer. The Hornets have already added a couple of new faces to their squad this month, with goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon and winger Nordin Amrabat arriving from Sunderland and Malaga respectively. Quique Sanchez Flores may yet be in the market for more new arrivals, given that his side have picked up just one point from their last five Premier League games, losing the last four. Now, The Sun report that Watford are making a £10m bid to sign Swansea City winger Jefferson Montero during this month's transfer window in a bid to add some speed and creativity to the side. Montero, 26, joined the Swans from Mexican side Morelia after the 2014 World Cup, and impressed during his debut season with seven assists in the Premier League, and he even made a great start to this term too, terrorising defences with his pace. Since then though, Montero has faded and is now on the fringes of the Swansea side, with a January departure at least under consideration after Watford's £10m bid."
Connor Smith will instruct his agent Paolo Vernazza to find him another club after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent, it was announced this evening. And we can reveal negotiations are underway to reach a financial agreement with Lloyd Dyer, who has been surplus to requirements at Vicarage Road for nearly a year.
Its sad that we have to pay off MR DYER id be happy for him to rot in the revs but not having him around is a bonus
What a waste of a 3 year deal - don't think he wanted to come in the first place really or clearly hadn't done a lot of research.
At the time we signed him it appeared to be a very promising deal. After all he had just played a significant role in getting Leicester promoted. I do not recall anything about his attitude at the time - maybe some rumbling from Foxes fans. He turned down a one year deal with them in favour of a 3 year deal with us - I would have done the same. Hindsight is 20/20 vision after all.
Yes I agree but clearly he didn't get on with Sannino or Slav for whatever reason. Think the main issue might be Dyer was told he'd be a starter for us right from the off which never happened...
I think he was unfortunate with the Sanino incidents as it alienated him from the fans. He was getting very positive feedback from people like Troy during the season and I doubt that would have been forthcoming if he was being an arse.
Mario Suarez has been given time off from Fiorentina to consider transfer offers with Watford in pole position. The midfielder arrived over the summer from Atletico Madrid, but made only eight appearances for the Viola and struggled to make an impact. He has been left out of the Fiorentina squad to face Torino tomorrow, amid reports he’s been given 72 hours leave to consider the transfer proposals. Watford are believed to be leading the race and could sign Mario Suarez over the next couple of days. It’d be a loan with option to buy at the end of the season.
Quique Sanchez Flores says he expects Watford to complete the signing of a central midfielder this week. The Hornets have been hoping to bring in another midfielder this month to supplement Etienne Capoue, Valon Behrami, Adlene Guedioura and Ben Watson. Watford are in talks with Fiorentina over a move for Spanish international Mario Suarez, who today was granted time away from the Serie A club to consider his future. The Golden Boys also have a long standing interest in Rennes midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure but Suarez is believed to be their primary target. Flores never wishes to discuss names when he is asked about transfers but the Hornets boss did state another addition is likely to arrive at Vicarage Road in the coming days. He said after his side’s 2-1 win over Newcastle United: “We are expecting to incorporate more players and something during the week should be done. "At the moment we’re supporting all the players we have in the squad. Probably what is coming is one central midfielder.” This doesn't sound like Townsend to me.
http://www.wdsport.co.uk/2016/01/ambitious-watford-set-to-break-their-transfer-record-twice-more Certainly going all out to improve the squad but maybe a lot to pay out for 2 players who might not walk straight into the starting line up?
Looking promising ..If these players arrive , the Pozzos can afford them , they are no mugs . Would love to see Townsend at the club .
the betting circus has gone into overdrive re townsend. we were 10/1 at one point today and that was slashed to 6/4. Now at 5/1..so the bookies still think he's going to Newcastle. However, from what i understand, we are still in talks and Newcastle are saying their interest has cooled...not sure if it's that way round though, we will see! Nearly put a bet on it today at 10/1 but skybet weren't accepting my verification..they must have known i was onto a winner lol
Don't think judging by the comments in this article Flores rated Arlauskis very much! http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/14227839.Arlauskis_set_to_join_Spanish_side_Espanyol/
Unreal really, we could add two more Internationals. Watford has come a long way in a short space of time.
