Defending seems to have gone to pot. Another two goals let in. Even Andrew French says we let them score too easily without putting a tackle in .
Val not happy then ! From Geoff Doyle on Twitter “Ismael kept players in dress room at end for 50 mins. He was fuming. But instead of ranting, asked every player to say what they thought had gone wrong. Doesn’t want blame game going on. Wants players taking responsibility. Wants more character from them” How will the players react ? Positively or as we have seen before complain to the hierarchy and get him sacked ..
It's a pretty common management strategy in business - involving employees in the decision making processes, being accepting of, and implementing, their ideas gives them ownership and a greater desire to see the ideas succeed. For VI, it needs him to be flexible enough to accept any good ideas that come out of the discussions - and be capable of giving rational explanations for why bad ideas won't succeed, without getting players involved 'offside'. For me, this is why the likes of Mazzari and Saninno failed - language difficulties made them unable to get their viewpoints across, and they resorted to an authoritarian approach.
What happened to the way we played during the first half against QPR. We won't be able to play like that every game but the intent should be there.
We just eased off and they had to improve but Porteous said afterwards they gave us too much room which probably told everyone else what they did wrong !
