Erm are we all happy with 1 in and none out. This is the most open league in years and holds opportunity for those who want to take it. Last year we didn't buy a striker in Jan which cost us a top 6. This year if we "only" buy a striker we will proably regret that too

I'm okay with the team right now. We have as much depth as I've seen.

Having said that, We should always be on the lookout for bargains. I suspect transfer prices will sky rocket this summer, so if we can sneak someone in that would be good.

Maybe someone out of contract in the summer. Or a youth player. We could even loan them back to the club, if that is allowed. And there is always the Bosman.

But there isn't much room for a starter right now. Unless it is someone really good. But those guys typically go for outrageous prices to desperate clubs.

Austin was a bit of a coup for us. Not sure there's another steal like that out there.

Ronaldinho is available. He might be 35 but he is classy and if he has looked after himself would be a brilliant for most teams in the PL. Such a signing would ensure our PL attendances would not drop below the 30k mark this season. A further reason to possibly sign him, if I were RK) would be that it would raise the club's profile not only in Brazil but also elsewhere in the world as he has many admirers. Finally he has that wonderful spark of creativity. However, I suspect most on here will think that I have been taking something funny this morning. No, just the fresh mountain air of Esporles.

Suggestion that United will not do any signings this window amidst the uncertainty over van Gaal. The latter doesn't seem to be a fit for United, so I can't see him being there next season. Not normally an advocate of sacking managers without giving them a real go, but I will make an exception for van Gaal. <laugh>

As for the question of whether we should have looked to sign more than one player this window...I bet we would have signed a player if he was our target and now was the best time to get him (as for Charlie), but I don't think our position is so dire that it was necessary to go out and buy anyone. If we did that, we could end up with a player that we didn't want instead of a player we did want in the summer. In January, in no danger, with few injuries does not warrant panic buys. Loans perhaps. So right player turns up....ok, but we don't need to sign.

I really don't want United to sack Van Gaal. They might replace him with someone better.

Why spoil the fun?

I can see it from a marketing stand point, but not sure he would be the right "fit" for the team. I wouldn't dismiss it out right as I haven't seen him play for years, but is a 35 year old show boater really up to the hustle and bustle of the Premier League and would he do it for 20k a week and chase full backs on a windy night in Stoke? :)

STOKE BID FOR IMBULA
Stoke have lodged a £19m bid with Porto for midfielder Giannelli Imbula, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Frenchman move to Portugal last year from Marseille but has struggled for opportunities with Porto.
The reports suggests Imbula has also attracted the interest of Southampton.

Battling it out with Stoke for a £19m midfielder? So it begins.

Genuinely have no love left for the PL if this happens, I can't wait for the gravy train to grind to a halt.

Haha exactly.. to see United to successful under Mourihno would be the best revenge for him. Plus van Gaal needs to go!

Can we not just wait a couple of more seasons? 25 bloody years of them being successful. We have had three seasons now of them getting now't and it is rather enjoyable. Long may it last.

Why would Saints want to pay £19m for a midfielder who can't get into the Porto team? Madness. If Stoke want to pay that ridiculous figure for a reserve player....good luck "Clay Heads"

It's pertinent, the day after the rich list was released, and a mere 2 days since the epic accounting face-off on this very site. On one hand, this is the kind of madness we want our equally financially equipped rivals to risk their money on. On the other hand it could needlessly inflate prices from the off, with summer prices escalating a band further. I would be happy if to end the window with Austin as an emblem of our dealings and this chap as Stoke's.

I remember a few seasons back, after the Ramirez signing, we were being used as a name (random PL club with supposed cash) in the Italian press to create intrigue in players we were very likely never in for.
