COSTEL Pantilimon looks set to leave Sunderland this week after receiving strong interest from the Premier League and abroad. The towering Black Cats goalkeeper has been left out of Sam Allardyce's last three match-day squads following the return of Jordan Pickford from loan at Preston. And Watford have emerged as the front-runners to take him away from the Stadium of Light, while there is also strong interest in him from Spanish side Espanyol.
My Sunderland supporting friend is surprised he's being sold, but says of we get him for the price being mentioned we are getting a bargain. However, he's probably wanting to move because he's lost his place as number 1 so I'd be surprised, though delighted, if he was happy to be second in line to gomes.
Is this Townsend? Alan Nixon @reluctantnicko 3m3 minutes ago Watford. Record bid in for Premier winger. Hopefully full tale in paper tomorrow.
He was but are you not concerned about spending £14 million on someone who isn't getting near the first team? It's rumours of course but it would scream "panic" if it happens in my opinion.
Do he and the Nordin bloke we've signed have a good work rate defensive wise as I think that is what Flores likes from his "wide men" as much as their attacking qualities? Jefferson Montero has also been linked - did very well for Swansea last season and at the start of this.
No worries Dan ..it's not my money ! Not a fully panic buy as they have been interested in him for a while now . Deeney , Ighalo and Townsend appeals as an attacking force .
Oh yeah - not mine either. Phew! We'll have to wait and see i suppose - and it would be hard to be too critical of the owners right now.

His lack of playing time is due to a falling out with the fitness coach rather than form. At least that's what I'm led to beleive from my Spuds supporting mate.
Watford are back in for Spain international Mario Suarez over a loan move from Fiorentina, according to Sky sources. Sky Sports News HQ reported just over two weeks ago that the Hornets were in advanced discussions with the 28-year-old after agreeing an initial loan deal with his current club. Those talks broke down last week but are understood to have been renewed and Watford are hoping to get a deal over line, which is expected to involve an option to sign Suarez permanently in the summer.
I here that we are having a whip round for jurado to join him. They are both good players just not 1st team but good cover players
