This stuff just writes itself: Alleged goalkeeper and singularly the worst Belgian player in the PL. Simone Mignolet, signs a new 5 YEAR DEAL that will keep him at the club UNTIL 2021. Further comment not required.
Thought I was going to be the first person to post about Mignolet's new 5 year contract but its taken me 20 minutes to compose myself after laughing so hard.
Worrying times at Klanfield if their world class manager thinks Mignolet is good enough for a team with top eight aspirations. I think Klopp is a risk, he has managed two clubs before Pool, and was relegated with one of them. Also, like Rodgers he enjoyed brief success before sliding back down the league again.
Weird decision by pool...he's a decent shot stopper but crap at most other things...it ain't like they'll get a load more money for him cos he's on a long contract.
Mignolet's nearly 28. I thought that he was younger than that. He certainly plays like a younger goalkeeper. I can see why Liverpool might want to make sure that they've got him on a decent deal. He's a good enough shot stopper, despite his obvious lack of command of his box. The alternatives are Adam Bogdan, who's **** and Danny Ward, who's still very young. I'd assume that they'll look to upgrade in the summer and push everyone down the pecking order by one, loaning out Ward again. Either that or they've got some bizarre idea that they can inflate Mignolet's price by tying him down to a long contract. That would be very silly though, in my opinion.
Mike Ashley wouldn't have even given him 5 years, its ridiculous. I feel like quitting my job and getting the Sondico's back out.
If you think klopp was a risk I dread to think what your opinion of poch was when he took over? And we gave migs a new contract so we can sell him to you for billions when degea leaves utd and loris goes there
“I know with a long-term contract, you get more responsibility – and I want to take up that role because I’m the sort of character that wants to be a leader, wants to speak in the dressing room and wants to help the defence." As Meatloaf said: "Two out of three ain't bad"
"The issue at Liverpool is a transfer committee that has simply failed on its record. The dominant personality is said to be Mike Gordon, a well-respected US stockbroker who is, according to John Henry, “by far FSG America’s most knowledgeable person with regard to soccer”. Footballers, though, are not stocks. Buying young players with resale in mind does not amount to team-building. “They were thinking this is a £50m player we could maybe get for £16m,”Rodgers said of the signing of Mario Balotelli" http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2016/jan/18/liverpool-jurgen-klopp-transfer-committee Nothing wrong with LIverpool that Americans can’t sort out. "They were thinking this is a £50m player we could maybe get for £16m,”Rodgers said of the signing of Mario Balotelli But I’ve got to admit, Rodgers has got a much better sense of humor than I gave him credit for. That is one amusing comment.
Didn't Rodgers get £50m for a £16 player, that useless one footed Stirling chap? That's like getting £200m for Darren Bent.
No way is Sterling "useless". His performance at the Lane in what proved to be AVB's last game, was stunning. He tore us apart. His attitude might be questionable at times, but he is a real talent.
