Black Cats boss reveals squad plans
Sunderland, 12:12, July 24, 2011
Steve Bruce is happy to go down the route of signing players on loan again as he attempts to finalise his plans for the coming season.
The Black Cats boss has been one of the busiest managers in the Premier League this season completing a series of high-profile deals including the signings of Manchester United duo John O'Shea and Wes Brown.
Bruce would still like to make further additions to his squad at the Stadium of Light before the new season kicks off next month and revealed he is prepared to take players on temporary deals after completing successful loan moves for the likes of Danny Welbeck and Nedum Onuoha last season.
"We would go down the route again if needs be," he told the Sunday Sun. "I'm happy with the size and balance of the squad at the moment, though.
"People tend to forget we had four or five loan players last year who played a big part for us.
"Look at Onouha, he was a big, big player for us. Mensah was a good defender, but I couldn't go down that route because he was unavailable to us too often.
"And of course Danny Welbeck did so well we've got no chance of getting him back - which is frustrating."
