David Bustrode was mentioned on a thread earlier, and compared favourably with Jim Gregory. It reminded me of the proposed merger, and then I stumbled across this gem!
I bet those 2,500 Fulham regulars couldnt believe how their fortunes changed in 20 years. What a wrong un Bulstrode was.
Yes, and how did he react when he found that the supporters were not in favour? Also what is different to Jim Gregory trying to merge with Brentford & play at Griffin Park? This was (according to a major club employee) a done deal. All agreed & just waiting for signatures. So, if you are holding that against Bulstrode, perhaps you shouldn't be so full of praise for Gregory.
I must have been in a time warp because although i remember him and FPR i cannot remember it affecting us that much. That season i can remember the first 8 games and scores really well. I went home and away every game. Good season for us and that's all i seem to remember
Wasn't really Bulstrode's fault, nor his place from where to speak, by the time 1990 had rolled around. And by then there was already the plans for the Prem in place and that came about two years later. The Prem talk is what changed everything, along with the whole all-seater bollix that changed the face of football as we know it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Premier_League#Origins
