This is supposed to be the earliest recording of Bowie and the Spiders From Mars, though Ziggy hadn't yet been invented and it was recorded with Bowie using the name Arnold Corns...

If to be believed, this was the first Bowie song with Mick on it, playing uncredited guitar (and also the person doing the clapping midway through).

If that isn't true, this early gem was the debut of Ronson (and also Woodmansey).

Low (my personal fave Bowie album, in my top 5 fave all time albums) came out 39 years ago today.

Yeah he was in that. He also was involved of the creation of the game itself, according to that ever reliable source Wikipedia.

EDIT: Apparently the game is free on the Square Enix store website until 22 January, as a tribute to Bowie, if you want to download it.

I was watching a few of his videos on a music channel, they put a bit of info up while the songs were playing and one said China girl co written with iggy pop was about his love of drugs! I think I like the song more now! :emoticon-0148-yes:

Sort of. It was originally on Pop's album The Idiot, which he recorded alongside Bowie in both France and Berlin at the same time as Low was made.

Lyrically it's a double entendre, it's about Pop's infatuation for an Asian girl, and is also about heroin.

Finally retired my old technics CD player from back when I was a teenager.

Got Blackstar rigged up by through a Cyrus CD set up and Graham Slee ultra linear Solo headphone amp.
    And Grados.

And I can't get enough of it.

It's a belter of an album. And now sounds even better! Can't recommend a decent headphone set up enough for listening.

Anyone in here at the Ziggy concert at Brid Spa in '73(?). I lost my ticket the week before but the promoter, Barry Nettleton I think, got me in about 2 hours before anyone else. Saw the sound check all by myself.

Outtake - David Bowie impersonates a number of his peers, including Bruce Springsteen, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Tom Waits and Anthony Newley, during the session for his 1986 single "Absolute Beginners."...

They're reissuing all of Bowie's albums on vinyl, which I'm quite happy with as I only have his 3 most recent albums (Reality, The Next Day and Blackstar), and there have been pretty much no vinyl reissues of an of his discography before.

They're doing it in parts, so the current ones are David Bowie through to Pin Ups. They come out in late February.

Just ordered myself Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane.

An old mate of mine moved house just before Christmas. Dumped all his stuff and went off for the festives. When he got back, he emailed me to give me tel no/address etc. The he wrote about Bowie: he said "if you were in East Park on 28th September 1969, that was when Bowie saw, and met, The Rats. And it all started there".

I'm afraid I don't think that's right, Bowie met Ronson for the first time in London early in 1970.

I don't know them, I was only friends with Trevor, I didn't meet Woody until the day before Trev's funeral, but I know they met him for the first time in London.

It's possible that Mick met him in Hull earlier, but the story goes that Mick met him in London just a few days before they first performed together, which was Feb 5th 1970.
