all i'd say is thats fine until you look at the real weakness that we have and thats 3 no 10s playing behind a striker and playing terribly narrow. I would just contend we need a winger.
And...? I couldn't give a **** what they've done previously. If they can do a job for us then why not?
I wouldn't mind Berahino... he kicked up a fuss and hasn't played much this year as punishment but when he's played he's scored... he's young, he knows where the back of the net is and he has pace. Can also play wide if needed in an emergency. Caulker is quite clearly a committee player recommended to Klopp as a short term option... he wouldn't have even known who Caulker is and would have only seen him once when we demolished them 6-1 so doubt he came to them saying I want this guy. Yesterday thought was a joke.. but I guess it makes some sort of sense. No point going out buying a squad player now when we're going tog et 3 injuries back in the next few weeks as well as having Ilori. Does mean when all fit we'll have Skrtel, Lovren, Sakho, Toure, Ilori, Caulker. 6 CB's for 1 half of a season.
They aren't big names Doesn't mean you can't get value but think original point was big name players don't move in January often so people hoping for a top class CF now might be disappointed.
I'm not a fan of Berahino but then, I've got previous for disliking players and they came good for us too Only way I'd consider it is if there was a contractual clause saying he had to change agents.
See e.g.: "Ings suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury in his first training session with Jurgen Klopp on Wednesday and comes a day after Joe Gomez suffered a similar season-ending injury" http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...uled-out-for-rest-of-the-season-a6695401.html Apology accepted.
He sacked Aidy Ward so not an issue Raheem Sterling’s controversial agent Aidy Ward has been sacked by West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino. Ward has become the villain of the piece for many Liverpool fans as Sterling and Liverpool’s bitter rift continues to be played out in public, with the player seemingly set on forcing a move away from Anfield
I have no idea what angle you're coming from here. I originally mentioned them to show you can get quality in the January window. Not sure how you can claim Suarez wasn't a big name either.
This was the original post "All (majority) the big transfers happen in the Summer window, very rarely do you get a big player moving in Jan (nowadays).. The fact we aren't in the market ties in with what Klopp has said from the start, he wants to assess the entire squad before deciding who he can trust and who he can't.." You listed Agger, Sturridge & Cout and MITO mentioned how Agger was a young player and the other 2 careers had stalled... wouldn't class them as "big" transfers. Yes Suarez was but as per original point, majority of big name transfers happen in summer. Like I said though, doesn't mean you can't get value as per the ones you mentioned.
Agree that there is value in January if we're lucky. But if not, it's good that we're not panic buying (so far) thus saving ourselves for summer. Reports indicated that Klopp wanted Matip in January and was willing to pay a nominal fee. Schalke said no so we'll get him the summer, and caulker fills a gap until then.
Coutinho and Suarez were big names when we signed them. There is no argument that Suarez was a big name, he'd already become world famous following the world cup quarter-final handball too. the majority of big signings do happen in the summer but then, the summer is much longer than one month too so you'd expect more to happen.
I actually think there can be more value in January, especially when there is a big tournament on the following summer like this year. Players that are out of favour want to move and play so they stand a chance of being involved in the forthcoming international tournament.
great point.... I'm just pointing out the TYPE OF TOSSING TRANSFER WE HAVE GOT IN TOSSING JANUARY AND HOW THIS YEAR IS NOT TOSSING DIFFERENT REALLY. Just cos agger turned up one year doesn't mean the prior or next player will work or not.
don't forget some guys can be cup tied.. don't forget there is a strong probability toure can't hack 90mins at all don't forget hamstring injuries have a high recurrence rate. I think caulker is of limited utility to us. The league cup is over bar hopefully 2 games. He is not cup tied for FA cup... i dont think he's available for europa.. so he is for league games only
Of course, hence me also mentioned Andy Carroll. However, to just dismiss the January window off because it has no value is very ignorant imo.
