The goalie is an Icelandic u21 international, 20 years old, for those who were wondering, he's on trial here. He's only ever played in Iceland and Denmark, but he turned down a contract at a Danish second division club to come try his luck over here. He's 6ft 4, no lobbing him then.
New keeper didn't get to do much, made a couple of good saves. He speaks very good English for an Icelandic bloke. He's also really tall. Swansea watching josh Tymon apparently.
The Tigers’ U21s suffered their first home defeat of the season when they were beaten 3-2 by Barnsley at North Ferriby on Monday night. Robbie McKenzie and Luke Lofts both stepped up from the Under-18 squad for this game. Frederik Schram, a trialist goalkeeper from Iceland, was included in the starting line-up whilst amongst the Tigers substitutes was Johan Ter Horst, making his comeback from a shoulder injury which had kept him sidelined for three months. In cold conditions at the Eon Visual Media Stadium, Barnsley were ahead within two minutes of the kick-off. Matt Templeton’s free-kick was blocked but the ball fell kindly to Jack Cowgill who rifled a shot past Schram. The Tigers levelled the scores on 19 minutes when Josh Tymon’s corner found its way through to the back post, where Adam Curry fired in from close-range. The home side’s next chance came when Lofts dummied Greg Luer’s cross but Jarrod Bowen’s shot was well blocked by Marc Roberts. The Tigers took a deserved lead shortly before the half-hour makr when Luer’s cross from the right was superbly converted at the near post by Greg Olley, whose volley found the top corner with Townsend rooted to the spot. Bowen then latched onto a poor throw out by Barnsley keeper Nick Townend but he couldn’t get his right foot shot on target. Parity was restored four minutes before the break when Harry White was sent clear and he coolly lifted his shot over the advancing Schram and into the back of the net. Even then, the Tigers almost went into the break with a lead after Luer was crudely hacked down by Cowgill on the left edge of the box. Josh Clackstone took the resulting free-kick and was unlucky to see his fiercely-struck strike cannon back off the near post. As in the first half, the first chance of the second period came from a Templeton free-kick but Roberts headed well over. The woodwork came to Barnsley’s rescue for the second time in the game when Bowen drove in a cross from the left and the ball was diverted onto the post by Ben Drennan. Lofts then tried his luck from outside the box but couldn’t get his right foot shot on target, before the visitors reclaimed the lead following a good run from George Maris on the right. He pulled the ball back for White to fire past Schram on 58 minutes. A great run from Bowen, which saw him skip past three Barnsley defenders, almost brought another equaliser for the Tigers but his low strike was well held by Townsend. Schram then kept his side in the game by turning a Maris free-kick around his post before Bradley Ash could have increased Barnsley’s lead when he was sent clean through but shot across goal and wide of the far post. However, the Tigers could not find the leveller and fell to their third successive defeat, which saw them remain in third place in the U21 Professional Development League 2 table.
