What really annoys me is how stupid you look. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and you're constant negativity to the post in this transfer thread are boring. I have never said anything like this to another poster on here but every time I come on here I see you making assumptions on peoples opinions.

No one wants us to spend more than we can afford BUT I feel most of us want to see some ambition and now is the time to push the boat out a little bit. Alex Neal is doing an excellent job with what he has available to him and if we back him a bit more I feel we can remain a stable club and keep a very talented hyoung manager.

You mention billionaire owners but you appear to be the only person who has mentioned them. There are different approaches that can be taken to ensure the long term future of OUR club, prudence is one that may work as is investing a bit more than we have previously - no one knows which will give the best out come but I certainly wont call you or anyone else who would prefer a more prudent approach a so called fan or stupid. Its quite simply not my right and I cant predict the future just like I assume you cant.

The more I think about it, the more I truly believe that a major reason we have been unable to land our targets has nothing to do with the transfer fees offered, but wages we are prepared/able to pay. I would also suggest that players we have alledgedly tried to sign from the continent are in all probability unwilling to accept a relegation clause in any proposed contract.

I thought all clubs (barring the arrogant twats at Chelsea) factored this sort of clause in, especially those who are expected to finish in mid / lower table positions?
Lessons learned from Pompey, QPHa, etc over the years, surely?

I probably should have fully caught up on this thread before posting my last post - it doesn't seem to fit well now!

Essentially I see it like this:
    1) We are all Norwich fans and whatever we all think (including the differences) we all genuinely want the best for our club.
    2) I am confident in Alex Neil that we can stay up with what we have
    3) I am sure that those running the club also only want to see us succeed and that they will adopt the best approach to do this.

I think all of the above is all that is important. Transfers always provoke many different views and disagreements but that is also part of the fun.

Canary-Dave, apologies for the message aimed at you, its not something I'd usually do and I'm just going to put it down to the **** start to the day I am having!

Don't misunderstand me Cromer we should definitely have these clauses in all player contracts, I'm just thinking that it could be a stumbling block for us when trying to sign certain overseas players.

    i.e. £10M + targets <ok>

This is again where I believe we need to be a bit more savvy in our business. We are aware of our wage limitations and we will also be aware of the market rates out there. I would think that we would have a better idea of who we can/could sign within those limitations and actually then try to sign players that will improve us and actually be interested in coming. Shopping for players who are likely beyond our means is the reason for failure not the structure in itself.

    Bah!

Relegation clauses are totally normal (most of the top players in the game have them in their contracts believe it or not) and I sincerely doubt that would be a make or break for a player wanting to sign. Chelsea's contract situation is very weird and is announced because it is unusual.

However I think you must be spot on about our wage offers. It must be incredibly difficult to find players of the right calibre and proven quality who also fit within our wage structure.

Personally, I think this goes both ways - we definitely need to speculate at some point, but I would rather it was in a way that did not seriously jeapordise our club!

IMO, all the players we signed in the summer have strengthened us. Brady has been outstanding and that showed in how much we missed him against ManCity. Mulumbu and Jarvis were both restricted by injury, but hopefully both will contribute more from here. Wisdom has shown himself to be our best RB after a run of games and it's a pity his injury broke into that. IMO, Dorrans, like Howson, is one of those players who it is easy to overlook. Dean Ashton thought he was our best player against ManCity because of his technical skills and the quality of his passing throughout the game. Finally Mbokani has shown signs of a quality striker in the last few games, as AN has gone out of his way to say, and I think his contribution will be telling in the second half of the season. My only disappointment was the failure to bring in a CB, so disappointing in that regard, but not a failure.

I also think that we did get started quickly in the window with Jarvis and Pinto, but had to wait 7 days to announce the latter due to a 7 day contractural clause. Naismith would be ours already if Martinez hadn't blocked it, as demonstrated by the fact that he spent 3 days in Norwich last week. My main concern now is getting a quality CB in, which is vital but isn't going to be easy.

Agreed Rick - a CB is the priority - even with three CB's on Saturday we looked woefully wobbly - we need a dominant CB more than anything else imo. Another striker would be good, especially if we do offload Grabball, Hooper and Laffs but with Mbokani, Jerome and (hopefully) Naismith in it's not such a pressing need as getting a new central defender.

Re: Grabban if Bournemouth have actually offered anything over £3.5 million (sounds harsh but we also get him off the wage bill) we should accept without hesitation. Him leaving could completely subsidise the arrival of Pinto. He clearly isn't going to play many games and why worry about him going to a relegation rival? He won't be first choice on the South coast anyway and as we know he is unlikely to score ten before the end of the season.

No apology necessary Mark, having lashed out at a few, I can hardly complain at some return. :)

I strongly agree with all three of your points above and I'll try to keep my petty outbursts in check! <ok>

I don't know where you get the rising levels of hysteria and panic from. I can't say I've seen much of that on this site. I think bearing in mind the fiasco of our attempts to do business over the summer and the club raising expectations by clearly stating we intend to do our business early the reaction so far has been pretty tame. Whilst I think most of us are fairly pleased with the signings we've made so far and the potential signing of Naismith, it is disappointing that we don't appear to have made any progress on what nearly universally is seen as our major need to sign a CB who is better than our current crop.

Yes of course all reasonable supporters will judge our progress this window at the end of the window, but to speculate or have an opinion is not unreasonable. After all thats what this site is all about, isn't it ? and to be fair I think some posters have on occasions over stated their opinions (KIO) in order to generate activity on this site. Something that seem to many of us to be was sadly lacking before the start of the window.

Lets just stick to expressing our views and not revert to putting labels on other posters.

Bit of a U-turn by Martinez?
He recently said that with five games in fourteen days, he needed to keep his entire squad intact.
    Now, allegedly, this:

Everton are reportedly keen to complete Steven Naismith’s transfer to Norwich City, to free up funds to sign Ukraine star Andriy Yarmolenko.
Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is keen to sign the Dynamo Kiev winger before this summer’s Euro 2016 tournament in France, when the 26-year-old is expected to shine for his country and potentially increase his transfer value.
However, the Daily Express claim Everton will only make their £21million offer once Naismith’s £8m switch to the Canaries is completed.

Here's hoping a) we can offer acceptable wages / terms, and b) we don't get gazumped by the likes of Bournemouth <yikes>

Sorry to be pedantic, but we didn't play 3 CB's on Saturday. We played 2 and a RB masquerading as a CB.

Aaaah - you've got me there dude !

From my view I saw the centre three as Bennett on the right, Rusty in the centre and Bassong on the left. Not sure why we lined up with three CB's at home, in a knock-out game, but it's all over now so why should we worry ?

I'm sure you're right KIO and as others have said we don't want to go down the Portsmouth/QPR route and sign players who are only here for the pay packet!!!
