I like that one too Beefy along with Elliot's MYZTIQUE in the 1.20. At Southwell I'm going for compensation on KINGSLEY KLARION 1.10 who got a bump at the start then couldn't get to the front and was forced wide all the way round. Should win this although Augeroo is in fine form.

Does The Don own CAPTAIN LARS as I see he runs in the 2.40? Any news and good luck in search of the hat trick.

Captain Lars is 6/1 with Boyles and as short as 5/2 with Betfair. I'd be snapping up some of that 6's pretty quickly before they cop on.

I think the Don lost him at the end of the last race. Didn't someone claim the horse?

Yes that's correct. Up 3 grades this time and 9lb higher when jockey claim factored in too.

Twenty three claims were submitted for the Capt at his five grand allotment, Derrick Shaw got lucky in the ballot!

£5k for a fit with potential still to tap race horse? That sounds very cheap indeed.

Impossible to call for tomorrow however as the new connections will either be thinking lets try and get our £5k back with a large scoop of interest in bets whilst the horse is ready or be thinking lets quieten this horse down before he goes up any more, lets bring him down and then launch a campaign of substance later in the spring or summer. My thoughts are that he would have been put in an easier race were they looking to win again straight away. The betting will no doubt provide a clue.

They probably want to see how good he is, hard to judge his form from claimers. His run when he got beat at odds on would suggest he'll struggle, but last time out he was very impressive. Very good race tomorrow, shame a few more aren't running.

There were 26 claims for him which is an all time record I believe!! We knew he would go and that it was cheap but it was our plan from the outset to have him claimed out of that race.

Nass is right, his form is hard to gauge. He ran a shocker first time out for us but he wasn't with Bell long enough and wasn't in the best shape when we got him so you can discount that run.

His last run was very good if you take literal form from his race but he was getting alot of weight and it was a race full of horses who had some good form in the book but all recent performances had been very pretty poor. It could have been a race full of non triers, there certainly wasn't any money for anything other than Two Moons.

You'll notice we didn't go near any handicaps as we felt 80 was on the high side. He was put up to 87 for his runs and that would seem a bit high to me although Shepherds claim helps and he could be a Southwell specialist. Its a totally different quality of race tomorrow so will be very interesting and Derek Shaw hasn't had him long enough to ruin him yet!! I personally wont be backing him but obviously will be watching with interest.

    IMJIN RIVER 9/1 Southwell 3.40
When this horse gets down to a mark this low it usually wins. The track and trip are as perfect as it gets for this three time course and distance winner. He won this race in 2014 off 46 and followed up a fortnight later off 53. Life was tough off the revised mark but when back down 45 he obliged again over track and trip last April. He has gradually worked his way down the handicap since and is now off the right sort of mark.
With Captain Lars running tomorrow this one becomes a topical tip as he ridden tomorrow by Cameron Noble who had his career first win on the Captain recently. That will not have done his confidence any harm at all and his 5lb claim only increases Imjin River's chance. In an ideal world the yard the yard would be in better form but I am not letting that putting me off.

ABI SCARLET should win the seller.

It will be fascinating to see how McKinley is ridden tomorrow because I'd say he's running over far too short a trip at 17f. To win his grade one over hurdles he needed every yard of 20f to wear down Tell Us More. It's not turned out to be a very strong grade one as well. The status is definitely flattering. His chase debut showed him to be a bit of a galloper with no pace so I'd expect them to hit the front from the off and grind them into submission. Interesting race.

With a relegation 6 pointer against Sunderland only 3 days away i really think high flying league 2 Oxford United can beat Swansea today or at least draw. Swansea expected to rest loads of players. 2-1 for an Oxford win and 11-5 for the draw look great odds.

Couple at Fairyhouse that caught my eye.
    2.20 BAILY GREEN 16-1.
    2.50 WESTERNERS SON 8-1.

Two singles and got them in accumulators with an Oxford United win or draw v Swansea as well.

Well, couldn't find the winner of a one-horse walkover at present, but I'll have a bit on both plus a R/F on Pancake Day and Lucky Mark in the first at Southwell (12:40). What the heck!

Well, no money for 4th and 5th! <laugh>

Top French jumps trainer, Jean-Paul Gallorini, has had a poor season by his standards, but still has some very good horses in his yard. See he just got the winner of the first at Cagnes-sur-Mer Midi today, and has a few more running there in later races. Usually, a force to be reckoned with in French jumps racing.
