Yes, I think that is the key for him. He's not gifted with blazing speed so cannot outpace people to the byline. And if he does that then he cannot recover on defense. But if he can learn to play a good, deep cross that can create some half chances then he doesn't have to push so far, and then the rest of his game comes together. He seems to be a solid tackler, and his positioning is good when he isn't caught out due to lack of pace. I thought his passing from the back was decent as well. The lack of speed is his problem, and a good cross makes up for that.
I'm not sure we've got it in us at the moment, during this poor run of ours, to get back in this. Palace would be well advised to go for the kill.
Difficult with this system and the lack of goal scorers on the field. He needs to revert to 4 at the back immediately or at half time.. then it will certainly be possible to get back into the game.
Strange to see Dan Harding at LB - been a few years since I watched him - I had forgotten he had joined Eastleigh
We've been playing well and creating chances? Going by the commentary anyhow. You can't plan for all these ridiculous sloppy mistakes.
Commentary said it was a Clasie mistake, again? Really struggling to see what this kid offers so far. He's had some brief moments of quality for us, but disappears far too often for me. Hopefully, his performances pick up as he gains match fitness.
He's played well today so far, it's Romeu that's been sloppy. Unfortunately the one mistake he's made has been the one that's been punished.
Clasie mistake then! Well worth the money! And he's keeping an academy boy out the side! Don't you realise that we only have two players in the pitch capable of scoring in open play (other than certain players that score once in a blue moon) and don't have a proper set piece taker on the park (so unlikely to score from one)? It makes it difficult to score even if we are on top. Palace are always happy to give the opponent more of the game anyway, they love to play on the counter. We need to revert to a back four at half time.
It's his one mistake. Romeu has made a ton. We're not losing because of the formation, but because we don't have a great goalscorer around the place. Palace have had two chances and no corners that I'm aware of. Admittedly only listening, not watching so hard to tell.
