If ever there is a club to rile, it must be Real Madrid and their arrogant President, together with a wonderful collection of their egotistical players like Ronaldo, Ramos, and James with their all assuming supporters who think they should be the best. How many managers have they had in the past 10 years?.
True, they are a stain off the field. But I find it so fascinating to watch the galactico's on the field. Plus I love Bale
Really? Althetic Bilbao? Real Madrid? We don't really need this board clogged with threads about Spanish football.
Sometimes the threads are rather monotonous Tom such as Long v Pelle has been discussed countless times, along with similar threads. I created these as a diversion and in one particular case to divert attention from certain fans pouring their loathing for Liverpool and Spurs for the merited one of Real Madrid, if ever there was a club that deserves everyone's scorn, whether you are British, Dutch, Spanish or Brazilian so let's keep the Real one going please mods!!!
If Real buy a few of our players over the next couple of windows & pretend to be special, then I'll come back to vent, till then you'll find me on the scouse rats thread.
No interest in football teams outside of Southampton and Lincoln and no interest at all in any other country's league. Not anything to do with racism or xenophobia or patriotism. Just not into the slower pace of football. Only watch England and the home nations during a World Cup or Euros as well. International football is even more boring.
I like Spanish football, and don't see any reason not to discuss it. Maybe we could make a thread dedicated to non-English football if people don't want to read about it? I've just booked tickets and flights to Barca v Bilbao next weekend at the Camp Nou. I am ridiculously excited
I enjoy Spanish football, but match threads for Villareal, or random argy-bargy about Real don't seem terribly relevant to a Saints board. Agree with Osvaldorama that perhaps a non-English football thread might be an idea (though I suspect it'll drop out of the top pages like the current Villa team).
There is a thread - General Football Thread I love going to foreign games too. Did Madrid and want to do Barca, but may do Sevilla before that.
So you should be!! I would like your opinion on Inaki Williams of Bilbao!!! IMO he is going to be an immense player in the next 10 years provided he keeps his head and works really hard.
If you love football you can't help but appreciate the Spanish game. I do get annoyed at the diving and pettiness especially when Real Madrid play Barcelona but some of the football is breathtaking.
I don't love football. I love Southampton and England. I want all the home nations to do well as well as my home club Lincoln. I used to love football when I was younger and would watch any game that I could. You remember when there was 1 match a week on a Friday night or Saturday or Sunday and everybody would watch that game for their weekly fix? I used to watch Football Italia every week on CH4 as well. James Richardson and Peter Brackley were awesome. I fell out of love during the 90s when the Sky Money started to ruin the romance of football and got a season ticket to Lincoln instead for nearly a decade including the home and aways with Saints before stopping that too in the early noughties. I only started being interested of any sort when Saints predicament in 2009 stirred up some emotion in me and I got back into the club I love. I watch the stream (or listened to radio in L1 and some of the championship) every week but that is it. I don't watch games that don't involve Saints apart from taking my kids to Lincoln a few times a year. Foreign football used to be OK and yes there was diving then but these days it is ridiculous. We moan about the Premier League but other leagues are at a different level full of players doing the sign of the cross and praying to god as they beg forgiveness for the cheating, faking and deceiving they are about to perpetrate.
It's not the money as such, it's the way it's been used. Imagine 4 divisions of wonderful grounds, top English coaches, successful academies, cheap ticket prices etc etc. All could and should have been possible. Instead of which we've got what we've got.
Munian who is returning from injury so may be on the bench, Laporte who is surely destined to move to a top club sooner or later and the veteran but prolific goalscorer Aduriz. However, Bilbao have to do things first, keep Messi quiet but in reality nobody can get near him as he evades tackles so brilliantly and keep possession of the ball. They are a good passing side but when Barca want the ball they press brilliantly. Enjoy it Osvaldorama. Will try to watch it somewhere on TV.
All well and good, but we then couldn't threaten to send someone to Krap Nottarf when they make a stupid statement! I also really enjoyed those trips to places like Rochdale, Tranmere, etc
