Fingers crossed we can get this done soon enough so he can get onto the bench for the Sunderland game. We desperately need strengthening. I hope he's up to the standard we need!
It would be a relief to have some cover when he comes in. I just hope he doesn't do too many foraging runs and takes to the Coqs role.
He's scored 6 goals for Basel this season and actually seems to enjoy marauding forward. His shots per game is much higher than Coquelin's. I think the idea is that Wenger wants to mould him into a more defensive-minded player, but I hope if that does happen, he settles in quickly because now is not the time to experiment with a player's position.
Read an article saying he's more defensive than not but this season has started taking more shots from range hence his tally. Prior to this season he had something like 2 goals to his name! Apparently running is his main strength which is good to hear. Seems a firm favourite with the Basel fans though and you can't grumble at the price. Would people want cover if Debuchy leaves on loan this transfer window?
Definitely need cover for RB, we have Chambers, but if he is providing cover for DM (and CB if we get a CB injury crisis) then it's a risk to have him as our only RB cover, particularly as Bellerin needs a rest and Debuchy is better quality than him. Personally I think we should fight hard to keep Debuchy until the end of the season - tell him to wrestle the starting spot off Bellerin, win the league (and potential double) with us and get into the French squad like that. Then once he goes in the summer we have Jenks read to step in to replace him!
Arsenal sign big name England international from Liverpool: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35227252 Edit: Bollocks, someone beat me to it! I even picked a link that didn't give it away. Sorry!
52 goals in 73 games since start of 2014/15 in a strong league is not to be sniffed at. £40m is a good price. I'd bite their hands off if he was available for that much.
Why the **** would Dortmund sell him now? The summer is another story, because Wenger might finally move on from his Benzema obsession and get this guy.
Maybe nothing to it, but Aubameyang missed training with Dortmund today due to 'personal reasons' http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...-training-for-borussia-dortmund-a6797786.html
I don't know about that. The article was posted 5 hours ago and it says he missed training 'this morning'
I wouldn't look too much into it, he's probably got some genuine personal problems going on and needed some time out. Also it's unlikely a top player would be on the move in Jan when their team is doing well. If it was summer then we might have a story...
Forget Aubameyang, all Dortmund players are going to Liverpool (and any other good players that move) it's being billed as the Klopp Effect
