Firmino agreed to join in June and the deal was finalised in early July.
You must have some very long months in Deludaland.

Lamela has scored 8 this season, not since he joined and he didn't cost £30m.

So, other than getting absolutely everything wrong, you've done very well. <ok>
I think that's called doing a Brendan. Shortly to become known as Klopping it right up.

    25m +4.8m add ons = 29.8m
I did say I wasn't certain on the goals scored as I only looked on wiki :)

So £25m and what add-ons have been paid?

Wikipedia only shows goals scored in the league in their summary at the top.
It's also often wrong, as any idiot can edit it.
For example, if you check Firmino's page it says that he only has one goal for Liverpool. Oh wait, that's right, actually... <whistle>

As I said in my initial post, he's been crap so far, but he may improve.
My point was that when we made similar signings who were initially ineffective, we got slaughtered for it, as did the players.
He seems to have escaped condemnation, for some reason.

I have no idea what add ons have been paid, as I'm sure neither do you, and for the record there's plenty of is on our board who have criticised Firmino go have a look.

I think we agree then? It's silly to judge someone so quickly?

He hasn't impressed, by any means, but he's new to the league and the language and you've already changed managers.
It's far too early to write him off, but that's not stopped the media with a variety of other, similar signings.

Sucky, Lamela has 14 goals and 12 assists for Spurs, stop quoting nonsense, you are making yourself look a typical Bin Dipper.

    Also regarding Erik Lamela,

A statement published on Roma's official website read: "Roma announce they have signed a contract with Tottenham for the outright sale of the playing rights of Erik Lamela, in exchange for 30m euros.

"The agreement also includes the obligation to pay 5m euros in bonuses related to the achievements of the player and the English club."

    http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...eal-for-erik-lamela-confirm-roma-8788337.html

In other words, a total possible outlay of 30m euros, 25m euros with an additional 5m euros in add ons.

    Exchange rate on 28th Aug 2013 was £1 = 1.16 euros.

    So on 28th Aug 2013, 25m euros = £21.5m + potential £4.3m (5m euros) in add ons.

Which means a total potential outlay of £25.8m at Aug 2013 exchange rate. Given that transfers of this size are almost always paid via installments and the improvement in exchange rate since Aug 2013 to 1.36 euros = £1 today, then Spurs` potential total outlay for Lamela will probably be around £23m - £24m if all add ons are met and even less than that if he remains the dud you claim.

Not too bad I suppose 25m for 14 goals and 12 Assists, personally if Firmino has the same return in the same time I'd consider him a dudd myself. But different strokes for different folks.

He has looked quite decent this year tbf, wouldn't be the first player to take 18+ months to really get to grips with the league, Pires, Ronaldo off the top of my head and they went in to be great players eventually.

TBH, No, Lamela isn't the player that many of us thought we were signing. But, after a difficult settling in period - new country, language, etc - he's developing into an important member of our squad.

The thing I find most peculiar about Lamela, choice of barber aside, is as NSIS has pointed out: we signed him on the assumption that he would be Bale's heir apparent; bags of skill, dribbling ability, eye for goal and an assist who would be effectively excused of any and all defensive duties so as to focus on terrorising the opposition. The ironic thing is that he has developed into one of our hardest working, most tenacious players. He scores and assists at a fair clip but clearly nothing like Bale was producing in his 3rd season here. Off the top of my head I can think of 4-5 crucial goals that began with Lamela winning a seemingly lost-cause tackle deep in his own half and building a counter from there.

The irony is that he has developed into a player who is far more useful to a Pochettino system than he ever would've been to an AVB or Sherwood system, yet the club had no way of knowing that when he was signed.

Whilst I don't think he's sufficiently paid off his hefty price tag, he deserves a heck of a lot of credit for working bloody hard to adapt to the faster and more physical style of the PL, taking truckloads of criticism on the chin without so much as blinking. Fantastic attitude and an approach to the game that is all too rare nowadays.

Says it all. The fantastic attitude let him see his way forward in being the most enthusiastic adopter of the Pochettino style. Look how much stronger he looks now than when we bought him. He clearly works very hard in training as well. I still have hopes he starts scoring a lot. He has been, actually, if only in the Europa. 8 goals in all competitions is very good--the downside is that it’s been mostly a result of destroying Europa teams, which he’s made a habit of the last couple of years.

Is it so bad at Liverpool that Alex Inglethorpe is trying to relive past glories?

I didn't even consider that connection.
I assume that this is virtually an emergency loan, due to the injuries that they've got in his position.
It could work out well for all concerned, if Caulker can get his head down, work hard and avoid doing anything stupid.

Liverpool are going to turn Klopp into the new Sami Hyypia.
He started his managerial career in Germany and failed in English management, too.
