We may well have the best academy around and have had some amazing talents come through the academy but I'm guessing the Bales, Walcots, Oxes and Shaws would have made it at other good clubs too. The fact that we have excellent facilities and coaches will attract those type of kids but maybe Reed, Seager etc are just not as good! Good and well schooled but not amazing talents, not 16 year olds who can make an impact in the EPL. Have patience, we'll find a few more in the coming years!
I'm sure we'll find them, its keeping them I worry about. But, with the prices paid, I can live with that, just wish we could get further into to the development before they are snatched up. The games played for us by Walcott, Ox, Chambers & others is a bit of a joke.
We don't party when we win and we don't make **** when we lose, calm down, you are only angry & disappointed because we have had it so good for too long. Its football, its saints, its overdue. Lets hope we keep it exciting & not fold too soon.
Lets not turn this into another bitching thread! Tintin you seem keen on Ramirez! Ive given up I'm afraid. I'm sticking with 433, long must continue. I have a feeling with his hard work and a couple more confidence boosting goals he could go on a run.
Ramirez is starting as I'm resting a few players and playing 4-4-2. I'd probably play this against Watford (depends how certain players do against Palace) ------Long----Mane ----------Tadic ----Clasie------Davis ----------Reed -Bert-VVD-Fonte-Cuco ---------Stek If Pelle is 100% by then I'd probably play --------Long-Pelle -Tadic-Reed-Davis-Mane -Bert-VVD-Fonte-Cuco ----------Stek And no cagey football. I'd tell them to attack and keep the game open. We tend to be scared of making the game wide open and don't back ourselves to win a high scoring contest.
Mmm one of our big problems this season has been getting done on the counter. Keeping the game open is probably the last thing we want to do. The only message I'd be giving is "stick the bloody white thing in the net"
It's Crystal Palace at home ffs. I expect us to win whatever side we put out. I would like to see Reed and Targett, we know they're both up to it.
I don't think our problem is really creating chances at the moment, it is taking them. While we're not taking them, I wouldn't want open games and evidence of this season also suggests we've not learned how to defend counter attacks yet. I agree we need to learn to do that. The Arsenal game was a change in tactics as we turned their back four at every opportunity and we took our chances better. That worked well against a team that likes to have lots of the ball. If we were a free scoring team at the moment, then I'd happily slug it out with others in an open game, but just not while we don't seem to have our shooting boots on the right way round. We also seem to crumble if we concede a goal.
I want to see Harrison Reed at DM and Ryan Seagar up front and the rest fit in the strongest team around them The importance of the cup for me has dropped significantly since we are now looking at the slight danger of relegation
I would like us to put out the youngsters TBH. The squad is not in good shape at the moment with injuries and its being a tiring and largely unrewarding Christmas/New Year showing - we all agree the squad is too small and we need to preserve of core of first team players for the league campaign.
To quote Mr. Klopp, a team that will give 110% not 95%: Davis Targett / VVD / Fonte / Soares Davis / Reed / Clasie / JWP Long / Seager
Yeah, I'd play the kids, and I'd also make clear that we aren't doing it just to rest the starters...it's their chance to make the case for playing time at the expense of some of those core players.
