I think it helps that Troy could have moved on but wanted be stay and be a part of the club/fans .But we must understand that every play wants to be tested at the highest level .And we can never be the highest level ( we could get close IF we start winning major honors most years)

China is still for the time being a footballing back water ( like the USA ) ... Players in their prime are unlikely to want to go there .
Some might challenge the notion of a loving creator super daddy in the sky ( of course I have no views on the matter ) ... how do you know ighalo's god is telling him to play for Watford ?
As you well know in this business / capitalist world , everything has a price .. Ighalo will go if a big club offers big money ( my guess £ 30 million would get the Pozzos juices flowing ) and / or he decides he wants to move further up the footballing pyramid .
Spotted a comment on Watford Observer which drew the words "oh bugger" from my lips ..I had not realised the African Nations Cup is coming around and we could lose his services for a month or more .
Still hoping the club offer Adebayor a contract to end of the season .

Losing Ighalo for a month is not a bad thing it will shows us
1/ How good or bad we do without him
2/ If he does well it can only increase is value
3/ We are almost safe ,It just means that we might not get into Europe big deal

so everything is looking good COYH

I have good news for you - the rules have changed for the African Nations Finals. As I understand it players have to be at clubs in the country they represent. I know for a fact if I am wrong someone on here will know the rules!

Dan if you are correct , that's good news re African Nations Cup .. Is it even on this jan/ feb ?
Brian ..if we actually qualified for Europe this season it would be a very big deal for our "little" club :emoticon-0100-smile . although I'm perfectly happy to settle for comfortable survival for this and coming seasons .

The problem with our little club getting into Europe is we would have to pay high wages for a few extra games that will not bring in much money .missing out on Europe by one place is no big deal missing out on staying up is a very big deal

How would he cope maybe having to play up front by himself without somebody like Deeney in support?

Watford striker Odion Ighalo has dismissed speculation linking him with a move away from Vicarage Road.

The Nigeria international has scored 14 Premier League goals this season and, according to the Sun, has attracted interest from Atletico Madrid.

"I want to finish the season strongly with Watford and prove that we have a good bunch of players here," the 26-year-old told BBC Sport.

"When the focus is on a strong finish, transfer talk will not get to you."

Ighalo, who joined the Hornets from Udinese in 2014, scored more goals in English league football than any other player in 2015.

And his tally of goals in the 2015-16 Premier League is bettered only by Leicester's Jamie Vardy and Romelu Lukaku of Everton.

"I haven't really bothered myself about statistics because I've always had my feet on the ground and I never forget where I come from," Ighalo said.

"I am just focused on getting better, doing things right on the pitch and being myself on the pitch."

Ighalo's goals have helped lift Watford to ninth in the Premier League on their return to the top flight.

"Watford are doing well at the moment because we have a fantastic team and not because of one particular player," said Ighalo, who has also had spells in Norway and Spain.

The Hornets were beaten 2-1 by Tottenham last time out and host Manchester City on Saturday (17:30 GMT).

"We didn't get the result we deserved against Tottenham but we want to put that right against Man City - that's what is in front of me right now," added Ighalo.

"It's a new year in front of our fans, I want to keep scoring for my team and fight hard alongside my team-mates."

    The Beeb report.

‘Watford will make a lot of money out of Odion Ighalo’
    JAN 12, 2016BY KEVIN AFFLECK1
Odion Ighalo will be a man on a mission at St Mary’s tomorrow.

Restored to the side to spearhead the attack, Ighalo will be keen to claim back as quickly as possible the goal against Chelsea the dubious goals panel harshly chalked off his tally yesterday, knocking him down to 13 goals and leaving him now two adrift off Jamie Vardy and Romelu Lukaku. The Nigerian may also be motivated by the desire to show Southampton and their fans what all the fuss has been about since the drab fixture at Vicarage Road in August. He was, remember, hugely ineffective against the Saints in a game where Alessandro Diamanti came on at half-time to such disappointing effect.

He has since scored 12 Premier League goals, seen his value rocket and become one of the most coveted strikers in Europe. If Lewis Grabban is worth £7m and Benik Afobe £9m, then what on earth is Ighalo, 26, worth on the open market? No wonder a top club official asked if Atletico Madrid “were buying his right arm” when we asked how they would respond to a bid of £12m from La Liga leaders.

Ighalo has since said he would, one day, fancy a move to Old Trafford, the Theatre of Dreams. Matt Le Tissier, a legend at the home of tomorrow’s opponents, feels Ighalo would walk into any team in the Premier League.

“He’d fit the bill in any of the top four,” Le Tissier said on Soccer Saturday. “I’ve been so impressed with this boy. He doesn’t look like the strongest but he’s held off strong defenders this season. He finds space in cramped areas. He’s been outstanding. I think he wouldn’t look out of place in any team in the Premier League. Watford can’t offer the kind of wages someone else could offer in the summer. Watford will think they can’t stand in his way.”

Watford will block any move this month and will reassess the situation in the summer. They may even look to bring in his long-term replacement this month and use the rest of the season to slowly integrate him.

“Come the summer everyone will be chasing this guy,” Phil Thompson said. “This guy can hold it up and beat people.”

Charlie Nicholas commanded the second most highest fee for a player signed from Scotland when he joined Arsenal in 1983 for a fee of £750,000. The Soccer Saturday pundit believes Watford could be looking at a fee of 40 times that for Ighalo in the summer.

“If you are talking about £20m to £25m for Berahino, what his value is this guy? Watford could make a lot of money out of him.”

The Manchester United rumour site think they will get Odion Ighalo for a bargain price, of GBP 12 millions, this is when Odion and the club rejected reported GBP 40 millions last summer.

I think Man U fans will have expectations of setting their transfer targets rather higher than Ighalo tbh..
