...perhaps sometime into the future :emoticon-0100-smile
If he were to want out , say in the summer, realistically what figure would you be "happy" with ? I'm going for 18-20 million .
Same figure for Troy Deeney . Think both are fantastic for the club ..But I have faith in the Pozzos to find replacements ..Discuss .

I would imagine he will go in the summer. Obviously depending on the second half of the season, i'd say at least £20m.. Bonkers! Not sure about Troy.. I don't think he will be in such demand.

I would hate to Troy leave within the next couple of years ..he is something special , far more than just a goal scorer . Because of his very physical style of play I suspect he is the kind of player who will not be play far into his 30's at top level .. so this may limit his transfer value .

Goal scorers are the hardest to find, buy, or replace. I think that the two of them together form a partnership that would be very difficult to replicate. As individuals they both have a value, but as a pair I believe they are more valuable than the sum of those two figures.

If he does go in the summer it will be 30m +
Hope he doesn't - maybe depends on our final position.

Very true, but NOT the most important ingredient for success ! It's defenders that garner the points by minimising the number of goals conceded (obviously!). It's all in a fascinating book - 'The Numbers Game'. I really recommend it to ALL WFC supporters, because the best way to survive in the Prem in first season - from the stats etc is to do EXACTLY what the Pozzo's have done. Buy good defenders, and defensive midfield players first. Goalkeeper too is important obviously.

I guess no one want's either of them to leave but lots of things in play here I think:

    • Do they want to leave and sit on a subs bench most of the time, more fun annoying defenders!
    • Money can talk both to the players and the Pozzo's, but given the future revenues available in the Prem will the Pozzo's feel that £££ now is better than £££££ in the future?
    • I am sure the players will be well rewarded for the success they bring.
    • They players appear to like Watford FC and their team mates
    • Vydra I am sure is lined up as a replacement - he is quite young
    • We are doing well at the moment, would they want to move to some of the teams below us in the league?
    just my 3p worth.

At least we won't lose him for nothing or on the cheap like so many in the past!

You never know in football who is likely to leave or stay.

What is likely is that, given the current set-up of the club, if Ighalo was to leave, then there would be a replacement sourced from somewhere pretty damn quick.

His value keeps going up game by game . There must be a price in his contract that we must let him go if he wants to go . I was thinking that 20 to 25m then we must take it but now its 35-40 mil ?

I don't think anyone would pay anything much over 10-15 mil for him at the moment. Before the howls of protest, consider that his current success is based on half a season in the Championship and half a season in the Premiership and nothing much before. There was much talk about the soaring value of Vydra 3 years ago around this time in 2012/13 - I'm not saying that Ighalo is in any way comparable to Vydra, but Premiership clubs (and indeed foreign clubs) are wary of taking a chance on "flash in the pans". Add to that the perception that he is prospering mostly because of his partnership with Troy - as did Vydra of course - any club would be wise to see how he gets on in the slightly longer term.

Of course there's always the "big" club down the bottom of the EPL panic buying at outrageous prices in January in a forlorn attempt to get out of trouble - Marvin Sordell to Bolton anyone? But I cannot see Odion going to one of those.

Vydra value was from the championship, Ighalo is doing it in the EPL ,he is taking on EPL players using his power and pace .the like of Man u or Newcastle could easy spend 25-30 M and if they try and tie the deal early then we might take it and replace him . But there is noway we would sell at the end of jan.

Although i agree with all of that my niggling worry is that this is not a normal year and we could see panic buying from clubs who, should they come calling, will undoubtedly turn a player's head. There's a few illustrious names desperate for strikers right now and they can afford to buy as a stop gap. I suspect i'm worrying over nothing and fully agree he won't go to a "big" club at the bottom

Don't worry, I'm sure we'll give you 35 million for him in January, that seems to be our going rate for such players. If he's injured, so much the better. <ok>

In all seriousness, I think you're looking at 15-20 million value at the moment. If he keeps it up for the rest of the season, you could probably push that up to 25. I hope for your sakes though that he stays though, and that your performances give him a reason a stay. You've been a credit to the league this year.

The only thing that im a bit worried about is his agent thinking that getting his 2M fee this Jan instead of a possible 3M in the summer

One aspect not touched on so far in this thread (at least I can't recall it), is that signing quality players in January and again in the coming close season, I suspect, will play a large part in whether Ighalo sees his ambitions being realised with Watford. Certainly the Pozzos will bear in mind the so-called Second Season Syndrome and will be anxious to bolster the squad - not necessarily radically in January of course.

A statement of intent, by recruiting players to target a European place next season, I'm sure would be a significant factor for him to stay.

Plus, of course, a significant pay rise.

He could have got more going to China... I expect Iggy to stay until at least the end of the season, I see him as very spiritual above money and I think he's come to the conclusion that God wants him at Watford for now...
