If I want to do a 5 horse accum or any 4 from 5.
1) Will I get worse odds if I go into a betting shop?
2) Presumably the bet can't be done across bookmakers (ie all 5 horses have to be with one bookmaker)?
3) Presumably this type of bet can't be done on the Exchange?
4) Can such a bet be done on line?
5) If I set up an account in UK using UK address and UK bank would I be able to place a bet whilst abroad?

Thanks. Thinking of having a speculative Ante post bet

1. Yes
2. Correct
3. Correct
4. Yes
5. Depends which country you are in (Turkey for example has a blanket ban on all gambling sites.

I agree with Oddy's answers apart from number one. The odds in shop won't necessarily be worse you're just less likely to get BOG depending on the bookies.

I do the 4 from 5 and the accum quite often on the footy and do it online. Its quite good as you can often cash out the accum for a nice sum if you get 3/4 winning before 60mins.

France Oddy. Can't bet/set up accounts from here. But it would be a bit poor if someone with an account in the UK couldn't bet whilst on holiday

I went to Barcelona in November, I couldn't access my lad crooks or hills account but the paddy power app worked.

I check all five of Oddy's answers, including the one about the shops. I use shops regularly - three or four, all major chains - and I see no sign that any of them have the slightest interest in encouraging horseracing punters away from online or mobile betting. Quite the reverse, in fact.

The only possible exception(s) are Paddy and the much(and rightly)abused Betfred, both of whom sometimes offer quite substantial concessions/enhancements on multiples, which they might extend to ante-post bets, particularly on high-profile events. Worth looking out for, and even asking.

But, as so often, Beefy's got to the heart of the question. Speaking as one with a rich history of sinning, it's my observation that when a converted sinner is contemplating a lapse, the potential earthly pleasure involved must be considerable. Don't you have a moral obligation to share here, Ron ?

I use only Coral (shop) and paddy power (online) I quite regularly find that coral have horses and football priced up better in shop than paddy's do online (especially football). Paddy however do BOG on horses where as Coral only do selected races BOG and usually only on singles. Generally speaking I put my football on in shop and horses online to benefit from BOG.

I think you only want to know so that you know which ones to avoid <laugh>. I can tell you they are all favs and I have no info

Well this is what I was thinking of

You must log in or register to see images

BUT I see Jollys Cracked It is also fav for another race. Does anyone give odds for a horse to win at the festival, regardless of in which race it runs

Also wondering whether it's worth putting in an odds on shot

Dam you Ron I was going to guess 2 of them- Douvan and Faugheen! If I was doing a multiple now I'd keep the shorties to a minimal but you've done that already with only one shortie in there. You really SHOULD be betting Ron <laugh>

I didn't realise you were talking about playing the lottery Ron, i thought you were going to chuck us a nice realistic 5 fold acca!

Well I thought £10 would return £98,175.00 which seemed worth a tickle (I'd just spend £10 less on something else - for which I would also get sfa). The any 4 from 5 would return £103,893.33 if they all won or anything from £5,775.00 to £53,550.00 if 4 of them won. But that would cost £50. Which then tempts the thought, but if they all won that £50 would have returned £519,466.67 if done straight <yikes>.

I'll probably end up not having a bet. Reality usually cuts in before I get that far

Accas are frustrating. God knows what Vautour may potentially cost me as I'd him in a Yankee I done at the end of last Cheltenham at 4/1, along with Douvan 4/1, UDS 6/4 and No More Heroes 14/1 <doh>
