I have had the advantage of reading what everyone else said, so...

That depends on what it is you are going to back. As the bet is ante post you may have to shop around and take not necessarily the longest odds on all your selections, so then you would have to factor in what you stand to win if the likeliest four of the five win.

If you can find a bookmaker offering Best Odds Guaranteed on an ante post market let me know because they will probably be bankrupt long before Cheltenham and you would get nothing from them even if all five won by a distance.

True, certainly for an ante post bet.

I am no expert on Exchanges, but I would imagine that to do the bet on one you would have to find a layer willing to offer attractive odds on all your selections and accept the potential multiple bet liabilities; which seems unlikely.

Yes, I am sure most online firms will be happy to take your money in any sort of ridiculous combination bet as your chances of success diminish with bet complexity.

That would depend on whereabouts you were when placing it.

Sometimes bookies do offer odds on a horse to win “any race” at a meeting (e.g. Royal Ascot), but obviously the odds shorten; and of course you could end up with two of your selections in the same race with a dead-heat your only winner!

I do not back odds on ever, so I certainly would not touch one ante post for Cheltenham – it could be better odds on the day provided that it does not get injured in the next two months and fail to show up.

I too am a reformed sinner, but like Ron, I've been tempted many a time by the demonic forces. Like drunks on the wagon, we punters are only ever a stone's throw away from being sucked back into the black hole. We know better, but sometimes the allure can get the better of us. Those of us with iron constitutions though, are able to fall back on the holier than thou attitude and thus escape the dreadful fate that awaits those among us with soft under bellies. Gamblers, like alcoholics, are low on both self esteem and street smarts and as such, are easily led astray by their own perceived lack of self worth. So stand strong Ronaldo, and don't allow yourself to wander among the mindless sheep of this world. Remember the wise words of Tyson Fury on his honeymoon night. "Get ye behind me Satan, and give me a good shove in the arse if I'm tempted to mount."

The bookie giveth and the bookie taketh away.

I will say Ron that if the reason you gave up gambling in the first place was a necessary decision and not just a personal choice then don't fall back into it and resist the temptation. If it was just a personal choice and not likely to cause any problems by dipping your toe back in then crack on.

Blonde moment on my part I saw the list you'd put up and didn't realise you'd highlighted some I thought the entire list was your acca <doh>

No smokey, it wasn't necessary. I never have been a regular gambler; always selective betting at big meetings or on course. I just got to the stage where I'd eliminated virtually all the races and then couldn't, in my own mind, rule out every horse bar one in the remaining races. I still have a bet on course if I go to the races (which is about once a year). In fact I'm always being moaned at for not putting real money on when we all watch a race on the TV and I say something like "I've got a grand on this one" and the bloody thing wins. I ran a series of £10k Betting Banks on here as an experiment and, although I was well in profit, I discovered I still had a lot to learn and there is no way I would risk £10k to maybe double it over a period. If I do have a bet, other than on course, it would be a "fling" for fun (ie small outlay that won't be missed and massive potential return - like the one above).

I love horses and horse racing, not betting.

Coral go BOG every race online - they also give your money back as a free belt if your horse falls during jumps season and if beaten by a head or less during the flat.
Had quite a few free bets off them this year.
Another thing they often do is pick a certain race at the big festivals and will match your stake as a free bet (up to £100)
With football bets - If you bet £10 on Saturday - they give you £10 to play on their online slot games - would never use my own money on this, but a few months ago whilst using this free £10 on a slot called Bruce Lee I won £870 from a 30p spin. Won fook all from the free £10 since mind!!
