Long now has the perfect opportunity to show what he can do, over the next few games. He should have taken the match ball home with him, yesterday, but he scored when we needed him to. I might be wrong, but I think, because of his pace, many managers see him as being a support striker, rather than the main man, which has reduced his goals scored stats. Again, I might be wrong, but I think his one season for Reading, as their main striker, he scored 21/22 goals. Regular time, down the middle, could be just what he needs to step up a notch.
I think that yesterday proves that formations, tactics and substitutions aren't the be all and end all. We won the midfield battle, meaning there was less pressure on our back four and more opportunities for the attackers. It proves that hard work beats talent, if talent doesn't work hard.
I have to disagree with your last sentence. If he was awfully good at it he would have got it right the vast majority of the time. He got it right last night but his hand was forced by injuries. He's generally good at picking sides but he should have put Long in for Pelle sooner rather than risk aggravating his injury.
If a player plays well he deserves to keep his place in my view. I'm incredibly consistent on this. I've always said this about any player. The second part is nonsense..
Exactly. Some of the logic on here defies belief Apparently whenever we win Koeman is a master tactician and master of team selection. He gets all the credit for wins, but isn't allowed to be criticised when we lose!
When we lose you state he's stubborn and has no idea. You post far more when we lose than when we win. I find this very odd. You then take a day off when someone shows your contradictions. There's criticism and there's non-stop moaning.
Turns out that Gaston, Reed and Gazza shouldn't be in the team now. Strange how one result suddenly changes that.
