If I were in charge of a "big" club, Mane would be on my wish list, but he would be behind Mahrez and Bolassie.

Wanyama will go. He's a good player and has already expressed a strong desire to leave.

I think the Mane/Bolassie comparison is a very good one. Close too.

VVD - he had a mare for Spuds first goal and his involvement in the Palace goal has been over exaggerated (in my opinion - he was out of position in the build up to it). Go back before that and he was the one player being singled out for looking good every week.

All of a sudden after one mistake and one part in another goal conceded, he seems to have fallen from grace? He's a good player and he's been great in nearly all his other games for us.

I think it's unfair to say that Ron hasn't been given the tools for the job. A lot of the squad are players that je has chosen. Look at cuco martina. That Money could have been spent on a footballer

Genuinely asking if anyone said he hasn't been given the tools (I may have missed that)?

My reference that he needs to be given some quality signings in the next Window, or he won't have a chance to dig us out of the muck.

Ah ok thanks. Hadn't seen that. I don't think we need a lot to change our fortunes really, depending on what it's is we expect to achieve. If we expect to be challenging top four the we need a lot more (unrealistic) yet if we expect the poor run to be stopped and fortunes turned around, then we can do that with what we have. An extra one or two would be a bonus. Look at the table currently and we easily could have had a draw v Stoke (the penalty) and a win v Villa. That's 3 more points and we'd be on 24. We've hit a poor run as nearly every team has. We can change that run.

Think I said he can only work with what he's got...so almost said it.

Harsh on a few coaches there, especially Pardew and Howe.

How did Howe fail pretty badly outside of Bournemouth when he did neither miracles or perform badly at Burnley?

I don't particularly care if koeman goes or not as we are not relegation material not are we going to go any further as a club in this era of football.

Although, this article seems to put downers on most coaches and highlighting the minority views on coaches just to big up your view on koeman being the best man for the job.

Don't agree that we can't go further in this era....Leicester are proof you can. What they have to do....which we didn't...is keep it up. Now is the time to strike for smaller clubs...real competition at the moment.

Leicester haven't proved it yet. They are on course to prove it, but not there yet. I hope they do.

Not necessarily saying he's the best man for the job, more pointing out that all managers have periods where they struggle, and most pull through.

If you are wanting to change jobs you don't chuck your current one in and then start looking, you look whilst you are still working, the same is true for looking for managers.
What managers out there will we realistically be able to attract if we sack Ron?
Brenda is out there lurking :emoticon-0119-puke:

I agree with OP - it is too early to talk about sacking Ron given the topsy-turvey nature of the league this season, plus there is no point getting a new manager unless the board is going to give the new guy money to spend in Jan, and I seriously don't see that happening.

Err... no, we'll certainly keep him until the end of his contract unless we sack him, which is highly unlikely. We may be lucky to extend his contract, but that's by no means impossible either. Ron and his Staff and Southampton are a very good fit.

No matter what we think of Brenda, she'd probably do quite well with someone like Saints.

You've misunderstood what I said. Even if something is very likely to happen that doesn't mean you aren't fortunate (privileged/lucky) for it happening. Also there are no certainties in football if Barca/Holland came begging I'm sure he'd have some considering to do.

Interesting point...how long before an unpopular manager achieves popularity? One win, two. Pochettino was unwelcome (mainly because he wasn't our Nigel), but just watching us tear into Everton (despite not scoring) sorted out opinion. We were a revelation that day.

OK, I see what you mean now, but you should know that Koeman has said on several occasions that he will definitely see out his contract, if he is the one who gets to decide. Quite the honourable bloke.

Yeh fair enough, I guess my trust for people in football isn't very high but he does seems like one of the good ones. It was a 3 year deal right?
