Indeed. I was going to add "...but not by me!" to my last post, but thought I'd set some other wag up for a good one-liner.
Tottenham are ready to take advantage of Jordan Rossiter’s contract wrangle with Liverpool to sign him, according to reports. Rossiter, 18, is a product of Liverpool’s academy setup up many have likened him to Steven Gerrard due to his commanding midfield displays. However, his contract expires at the end of the season and with Liverpool yet to sort out a renewal, the HITC says Spurs are swooping in. The paper says Tottenham could snatch the player for just minimal compensation in the summer – in a move which would likely anger fans. Even Mousers like this kid are too embarrassed to sign for Liverpool. Don't worry son, you put this white Spurs shirt on, we'll get you in the England team in no time.
If I'd had a penny for every time I've heard a Liverpool manager blame defeat on a horrendous performance rather than refereeing decisions, I'd have no pennies.
It was an extremely insipid performance really wasn't it. I think the traditional "bigger" clubs have been shown up this season really. There have been so many games where "better" teams have dominated possession (not that Liverpool did yesterday) but then done eff all with it. Then you get the young upstarts like Leicester, Bournemouth, Watford and even Norwich to a certain extent who may not see so much of the ball. But they actually do something very strange when they have the ball. They run very quickly towards the opposition goal and try and get it in the string bag! Every single time. Crazy isn't it! Who would have thought...... <sarcasm smiley>
Seems like a fair trade to me: they tried to poach Alex Pritchard a couple of seasons back, and also signed Lawrence Vigouroux and Kevin Stewart when they were both released last year, so isn't it time they gave something back to us?
Two revealing stats are that Mahrez is far and away the best player in the PL according to WhoScored’s alchemy--and that his pass completion percentage is a lowly 74%. It’s almost as if he keeps trying to make passes that create opportunities to score, instead of simply knocking it sideways towards the nearest teammate.
World Class Firmino must've sent his Championship quality brother to Watford yesterday. Absolutely awful performance.
