79 - Sunderland pushing but there's no way through as yet - Elmo down the right and finds Larsson but Miller is out quickly to claim.

Mate, SuperKev is by far and away the best i've seen, unfortunately the majority of players i've watched have had the footballing skills of Pat Butcher after smoking 6kg of skunk, but i think the way Sess moves with the ball, he never looks at it, is so natural, he will surpass Phillips.

I'll rephrase to the most naturally gifted footballer i've seen in the shirt, and SKP is his benchmark if he wants to be the best ever player.

3-1 and game over...

Hannover 96 3 Sunderland 1. Harsh on Sunderland. A ball from the left finds substitute Akdari and his first time shot leaves Mignolet with no chance.

Nothing the keeper could do unfortunately, plenty of pace on the effort and right in the corner.

‎90 - We're just waiting to see how much time will be added on. Malbranque is penalised for a foul, and that's probably about it.

It would be true commitment if the match were in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch and I took a train to get there.
Just spent a wonderful afternoon and evening in Heidelberg, THE university town of Germany. A veritable jewel of a place. And well done, the German trains. Impeccably clean, punctual and comfortable. This is not a criticism of British trains by comparison as I haven't travelled on a British train in donkeys' years (except the Metro from the airport - whatever it's name is - and Sunderland city centre) but I hope that our trains are up to the standard of German ones.
One thing I'm confident of though. Our football will be better than theirs on Saturday.

Good point about the Swiss. Maybe that's why their cheese is like that.
I don't think I'll be able to keep you posted with the goals. Here in the hotels I have access to Wi-Fi so it's free but outside it costs an arm and a leg. If they have Wi-Fi in the ground, I'd be happy to give running commentaries but www.safc.com does it.
Now to see how German breakfast is. Dinner-time for you, I suppose. Guten Appetit.

Incredible place. Crowded streets in the old town, bars and restaurants spilling out on to the streets, massive firework display over the Rhine - they must know the Lads are in town. Half an hour from Mönchengladbach. Just the place to be tonight!
But roll on tomorrow!
