hopefully he can be trated with lazer treatment terrible shame because he is considerd by many to have been one of our greatest wingers
 
Great player, it's his peripheral vision that seems to be affected. I hope medical science can prevent it getting worse. All the very best of luck to him
 
Loved the guy, socks round his ankles running at the opposition. I used to pretend i was him or Stan when having a kick around in the park with my mates as a 10 year old. Glory days

I remember Norman hunter chopping him in half three times down the ellerslie rd and not so much as a booking...all straight reds now...did Dave roll about like a big girls blouse?...no...just a dirty wet cold sponge from a dirty bucket n up he got...nandy pandy players of today would be out for weeks n contemplating a law suit for assault!
 
That tackle from Lampard on Dave after about 5 seconds in the League Cup tie at West Ham was one of the most brutal tackles ever made........he just set out to injure him........how he didn't break Dave's leg I'll never know......
 
Dave has set up a donation page and has already reached 91% of his £5,000 target. Those of us lucky to have seen that side (I did, I have) dig deep for a great little player:emoticon-0164-cash:
 
I have Glaucoma and with eye drops and bit of laser I seem to be doing fine. I hope he has private insurance and not relying on the NHS.

It was. I was sat just 2 or 3 rows back from the touchline when he did that. He obviously had been told to take Dave out the game, and he didn't hang about to be asked 2 times.

Nowt wrong with them I have had a rare eye disease since birth and if it wasn't for Moorfields I would be blind
In fact without my custom vaulted lenses in I can have a guide dog … the only reason i could go into the forces -27 in both eyes
With my consultant and the inserts he makes for me I have 20/20 and only have to attend twice a year now
My eyes split regularly (weekly) that is to say the cornea splits and even today it's pain of all pain

Without the NHS I wouldn't be able to do anything I have chronic Keratoconus and when i started out no one knew what it was now it's well supported

I wish my hero the very best and as it's very treatable now he will be fine

Judging by the Mail article it's an hereditary condition, may not be your 'normal' glaucoma. Apart from that he looks in very good shape at 65.
