Nothing new but its still early --------------------------------------------------------- CHARLES N'ZOGBIA IN A CAT FLAP ABOVE: Charles N'Zogbia is stalling on a move to Aston Villa in the hope of joining Sunderland Iâve spoken to Charles a few times this summer. Titus Bramble 21st July 2011 By Jason Mellor CHARLES NâZOGBIA is stalling on a move to Aston Villa in the hope of joining Sunderland. The midfielder is at the centre of a £10m tug-of-war between Villa and the Black Cats after Wigan reluctantly agreed to sell their prize asset. NâZogbia, 25, began his Premier League career at Newcastle. And former Toon team-mate Titus Bramble insists the Frenchman wants to link up with ex-Wigan boss Steve Bruce. Bramble said: âIâve spoken to Charles a few times this summer. âHe said itâd be a fantastic move. The players would love him here, the fans would love him but itâs out of our hands. âHeâs a fantastic player and heâd be great for us.â --------------------------------------------------------------------
SSN have reported this morning that the player may consider going on strike in an attempt to orchestrate a move form the DW Stadium. Whelan is trying to generate a bidding war but for a player in the last 12 months of his contract and for whom we could get to sign a pre-contract in 5 months time and sign for nothing next May, £10m is way over the top. I think Bruce and SNQ are rightly holding firm here and if Whelan wants to play hard ball, he may well get nothing for the player and have a player less than committed to their cause earning a good salary in the process. i' m sure Martinez wont want this to drag on until late August, only to see the player ultimately go and all of his targets for replacements gone too. Whelan is just going to have to bite the bullet on this one and reduce that £10m fee if he isn't going to lose out totally. If Wigan were to be relegated, they would lose ALL their better players. They need N'Zogbia out and new ones in. Fingers out time Dave.
I think it is nailed on he will go to Villa. They desperately need him to replace the two quality wingers they have lost, they have the money available, and I think he will be a Villa player by the end of the month. Bruce has already come out and distanced himself and SAFC, and I believe him.
Aussie dont be fooled by 'management speak' mate. How many times have we heard managers say one thing only to throw people off the scent, only to see the very thing denied happen anyway. Everyone seems to think this is either N'Zogbia being greedy or we are no longer interested or that Villa have money from selling Downing and Young. Its not as simple as that IMO. It matters not that Villa have money to spend. If they ahd £100m to spend and the player doesnt fancy the move, he wont be going there. I think we too easily have £10m to buy him but have no intentions of doing so, as we already know where the player wants to go. I think through the likes of Brambles close friendship with the lad, we have ascertained his preference of club. I also think we have told the player we want him too. Its now about making Whelan realise that a player in the last 12 months of his contract is not worth £10m. If he were Lionel Messi he would be but not N'Zogbia. I think Bruce is very relaxed about losing out on a player he made his number one target over the summer, which makes me think he knows its a matter of time as well before he does become a Sunderland player. Villa are merely stalking horses to try and get us to cough up the dough. We ain't biting and its a game of cat and mouse now. Patience. He will be a black cat before we play Liverpool IMO.
Can't discuss pre contract agreements with domestic players until later... Not January. That's only for foreign based players. The lad's off to villa.
I must be the only one on here that wouldn't touch this lad with a bargepole. The fact that he is prepared to strike tells me all I need to know about the lad. Maybe if he dropped his wage demands, it would help him get the move he wants. I just got a gut feeling that if we do sign him it will all end in tears, a-la Bent ****. If one of the sky 4 come calling he'd get the lip on & do the same with us. The lad blows hot & cold anyhow from what I've seen of him. I'm not saying I'm right, it's just my opinion. His attitude is questionable to say the least.
You're not the only one with that view.Billy.I agree with you 100%.Didn't our management once say that they wouldn't sign anybody with the wrong attitude??
I don't think striking proves anything, Sessegnon went on strike and he is a legend! IMO I'd be alright if we got him or didn't. He's now not vital for our team to function due to the number of midfielders we've just signed, though he could be useful for us. If we have to pay over the odds (which it looks like we'd have to do), I wouldn't sign him.
Jersey, you are correct about Sess, however, the lad took a pay CUT to come to us knowing he had the ability to do well & thus be eligable for an increase in wages/improved contract through his own hard work. Entirely different scenario mate.
Our Charles. Who art in Wigan, N'Zogbia thy name, Give us this day our daily N'Zog, And forgive those who play him against us, For thine is the signing, The power and the wages, Forever and ever, N'Zog.
Our Charles. Who art in Wigan, N'Zogbia thy name, Give us this day our daily N'Zog, And forgive those who play him against us, For thine is the signing, The power and the wages, Forever and ever, Now get the **** up here bitch and sign!!!
Hail Wigan, full of grace, the Zog is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst all clubs, and blessed is the fruit of thy midfield, N'Zogbia. Holy Wigan, sell us your Zog, for a reasonable fee, now or at the hour of your choosing Amen
