I know you wouldn't as we know you from many posts on here.

As I say I wouldn't either as he's not worth a second thought and I believe most are just venting...even the threats of violence as the people saying them are angry and feel powerless because the person is hidden. Any that do literally track him down to commit actual violence have issues aside from legal of their own.

As I said in my other post its the anonymity that undercuts the freedom of speech defence. "David Smith" (plucked out of air) exists and has ownership of the consequences of things he says and does. BIGDEFC is in effect a creation and can hurt and insult people at will without facing those same repercussions the actual person would.

I don't think anyone on here felt it was aimed at them. I just wondered why you got all mouthy about it when you have zero information. You even realised you went off half-cocked because you've apologised now several times. You don't have a twitter account do you because that 's the sort of behaviour we're actually talking about :bandit:

Tracking him down doesn't necessarily mean popping round his house...

like key someone posted on the first page about what they are doing with racist comments in Brazil, track him down, ie who he is and roughly where from and shame him online in the same way.

If if lives in Liverpool (he's a blue so it's more likely) then people might see it, and he might think twice when people give him grief for it.

I agree wth point bod is trying to make tracking him down to hurt him is stupid and pointless.. But tracking him online and shaming him that way, no issue with as he clearly deserves it.

Well the only information I have is what was on here.
That someone said something stupid on Twitter and now people are trying to track him down and are leaving threat messages on his twitter.

His twitter page was taken down pretty sharpish and the links to the accounts of people who replied to his comment are mostly Everton fans telling him to delete his comment because there was no need to go there. You've let your imagination run away with you for the rest of it <whistle>

People love a bit of outrage, and social media provides a platform for the perma offended to saddle up their high horses and go seeking said 'outrage' opportunities.

Most of it is just wind and piss.

Before the current inquests into the deaths of the 96 began the attorney general warned against making prejudicial remarks on social media, he said that those doing so would be hunted down and charged with contempt of court.

  11. If the comment had been said in the open world rather than behind a computer screen, there wouldn't have been time to think about any of that stuff, the reaction would have instant!

If you looked at the image garlic posted, from it you can see the lad tweeted at 12.30 yesterday, an hour later the other twitter person lukas told him to delete it. This thread was posted at 4.30 yesterday and his twitter account had already been taken down, so there was a very small window in which he was 'bombarded' [and we have no idea that he was]. Not 'lies' just guesses, unless garlic informs us further where he got the story from.

  14. Highlighting to make him feel like the **** that he is is fair enough but it wouldn't stop there would it. There is someone that willing to go too far, the guys life wouldn't be worth living (not that I care, he shouldn't have been a ****)

Quite right mate. Which is why we don't have a specific thread on here or talk about the inquests.

I took the original picture from my facebook page. The person trying to track the idiot who put it up was at Hillsborough and lost a few friends, needless to say he was furious. I don't think the intention was to do said idiot violence, but more to shame him and explain to him that all actions create a reaction. Having said that some of the other posters were a bit more aggressive, but then again there are a lot of keyboard warriors about.

You would hope that after the Facebook/Twitter reaction the idiot realises he went to far, and I am sure his mates, whoever they support, will point out what a dickhead he has made of himself.

I do not do Twitter because I think people use it before they put their brains into gear. I do use Facebook, but only put up what I would say in a social environment, a lively discussion is one thing, just slagging off from the safety of a keyboard is something else.

Yeah Twitter does seem to get a lot of people into trouble lately.
I have facebook too, mainly to keep in contact with Family who live far away and abroad.
    Twitter is pretty pointless imo.

I don't do either but that's because I'm a very private person. Very often on here I go back and delete some of my comments where I've given out personal information then changed my mind <laugh>

Twitter is very useful to some people like those wanting to promote their businesses or fund raising or being part of an online community that promotes health issues or gives advice. I do find it amusing that some people who call twitter pointless, or whatever, are quite happy to use this site [which is essentially for sport] in the same way others use twitter i.e. to tell us what they had for their dinner, or where they're going on holiday etc. etc. etc. Is there really that much difference?

Its a tough one. I can see the benefit of anonymity on twitter for people who live in countries where free speech does not exist or is restricted.

But i know what you mean (i do it lol). To me its along the lines of a convo in the pub. Some you know well, some you don't know at all.

Its like FB posters who geo tag where they are. Personally I think its crazy lol...

There's a distinct difference between anonymous postings on a message board site like this one and posting personal photos of your every move on FB and twatter.

I could go onto FB and tell you what half of my family did at the weekend with photos and detail, who the **** is arsed? Shooting the breeze on sites like this is like pub convos whilst wearing balaclavas <laugh> (apart from RHC like.....)
