If he said that in a pub (red or blue) he'd get a smack in the grid for it. Saying it on the internet may well result in the same outcome. Who's arsed? He's patently a complete scrote and he deserves a slap for that crass comment in my book.

But the thing of it is, you cannot track down everyone on the internet who says something you don't like and threaten them with violence! Again, this isn't aimed at people on here. More the folks sending him threats on twitter, be they Liverpool fans, Everton fans or whoever. Football allegiance is irrelevant.

Just so I understand your argument here...You i assume you include yourself the "pisses others off" don't like Liverpool fans that react agressively to people who under the guise of fandom make disgusting comments about people who died in a terrible tragedy? Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't go to the effort of tracking him down myself because I agree he is just a knob with a clear lack of emotional maturity but then again I am not from Liverpool, I didn't know one of the dead or injured, I didn't see the effect the smear on the deads names and character by press, government and opposition "fans" had on the survivors or families. I am sure though that if someone made these comments about one of my dead relatives through any format I'd probably be as "thin skinned"... While I see the jist of your "ignore the twat" argument I think the way you've said it is a little naive to the history and circumstances of the disaster and subsequent cover up and smear campaign. I never mentioned any football team so not sure why you said this. I have only seen this thread's title with regards to hunting his ID, I wondered what you'd heard because you seem to think there really is a hunt out for him.
And as to the right of free speech. I believe it comes with ownership of what you say. If you are a principled person then you do not hide behind anonymity. Its the one downside to social media. It takes away responsibility of ones own actions. I know that sounds hypocritical being typed under a pseudonym on a board filled with anonymous posters but then I have given my real name on here in the past and have no issue when doing so as I do not believe I have ever posted a comment I wouldn't say in person. As Tobes said. The guy in question would never have the balls to say such a thing in person so how is it freedom of speech for the individual? The individual does not actually exist outside of the twittersphere?

I doubt anyone will turn up at his gaff, they'll just name and shame him on the same medium he made his comment on, and he'll probably have to stay out of town for a while until it becomes last weeks news.
