Does Netflix have any HBO stuff on it?
I think HBO have their own streaming thing don't they? HBO Go.
If you stick strictly to Netflix you will miss out on most if not ALL of HBO's back catalogue, and they are by far the best network in existence. (Sopranos, The Wire, Oz, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, True Blood, Six Feet Under, Sex and the City if that sort of thing floats your boat).

I think Netflix is a good idea.
Its certainly an alternative and a much better way to do things than broadcast TV.
I also like the way they release entire seasons of their shows in one go, instead of having 1 episode per week like other networks.
My only issue is the competitiveness of it.
Certain networks cannot, or will not, allow their shows to be on Netflix because they want to have their own competing streaming service, and they can **** off if they think I am going to subscribe to half a dozen streaming services in order to be able to watch everything.
Thats why I download torrents, because I can then watch what i want, when i want to watch it and can choose from everything.
If all the major networks sat down and said, okay, lets throw all our shows onto one streaming service and charge £20 a month, i'd probably do it.
Get Netflix and Hulu and you've got practically everything basically between those two providers.

Just went to have a look at the Hulu website and was put off straight away.
Firstly, i think its only for the US, couldn't see anything about a UK service.
But more importantly than that, you can pay £7.99 a month for a subscription or £12 a month if you want to stream shows without commercials.
For **** sake, you are already getting subscription money off me, AND you are getting advertising revenue too, thats just ****ing pure greed.
Unless I pay extra money and then you remove the adverts? ****......off.........
Have one or the other....like the BBC and ITV, not both you greedy ****s.
Its not like Hulu are even making shows like Netflix, so the more you pay, the more money they have to spend of making better shows, it is purely a streaming service.......

Yep, seems a great idea but as you say, if loads are going to do similar things then it becomes expensive. Bit like Sky Sports and BT Sports; it was claimed the competition would make subscription cheaper. Arguably it may well have individually but now we've got two to subscribe to so its more expensive overall.
I use my Now TV box, I installed plex on it so anything I download on PC I can watch through that.
Yup, this is why i cancelled my Sky sports subscription.
And refuse to get BT Sport.
Especially since they poached the Champions League from ITV, now they can **** right off. You don't even get all the matches free when you have BT broadband anymore either. Its just pure greed.
I don't feel the slightest bit of guilt for finding internet streams of live football now. They have pushed me to it.
Its come to the point where if I want to watch all the TV shows and sport I want, I have to fork out about £200 a month in subcription fees (Netflix, HBO Go, Sky, BT) and like I said, they can **** right off.

I've got the EL Virgin package (jokes at the ready) which supposedly means I get BT sports for free. However, since they announced the deal I've received no less than three increases to the bill (one last week at £3.99pcm). I also know (via a colleague who did it) that if you drop from the XL to L the bill drops by over £30pcm [HASHTAG]#free[/HASHTAG]
Its the competitiveness of it all.
Sport is the worst.
Because the prices are only going up because the networks are putting in increasingly ridiculous bids for exclusive coverage rights.
Is this influx of money reflected in a better quality of a football league, cheaper merchandise or lower ticket prices for match going fans? **** no!!
Its all going into the pockets of rich ****s (ie the players and the club owners, plus corrupt knob jockeys at the FA and UEFA).
So how do we benefit in any way? As the customers?
We now have to pay for TWO services instead of one, costing us more, and we still get raped on ticket prices and other costs (food, merchandise etc) when we go to the games. I am seeing no benefit from this and I refuse to part with my cash to facilitate it.
Again, treat me fairly and I will cough up, but try to arse rape me with multiple subscription costs and stupid prices and I will tell you to **** off and arse rape you in return, am sick of it.

I love Netflix as you can multi screen with it, the kids watch it on their consoles and tablets and I watch it on the Smart TV and you don't get any viewing issues like buffering. The price is what I like more than anything.
True Detective Season 1 is better.
I don't agree overall but a case could definitely be made.
Season 1 of True Detective was a masterpiece.
I think the Wire gets it because it managed to maintain that quality for a full 5 season run.
Most shows, like Breaking Bad, True Blood, Six Feet Under had dips in quality, I know some people who'd even argue the Soprano's suffered from this, though I was enthralled the whole time personally.
But the Wire is the one show that is more or less universally accepted as keeping a consistent, brilliant level of quality from start to finish. There isn't a single weak season imo.
If I was pushed i'd probably say the weakest, in relative terms, is probably season 2. But even then, when re watching them recently, the season 2 new guys, like the Sobotka's, the Greek, Beadie Russell, are still excellent and its masterfully written.
True Detective was genius, but it only had a short run.....
the less said about Season 2 the better. I am a TV fanatic but even I had trouble following that ****. if that happens you know you are in a mess.
Hulus ads arnt bad. They play 1 15 sec ad before show starts and another 15sec ad half way through a 30min show. They're not excessive.
Netflix doesn't show many British shows. So I have to have Hulu for them. They also get TV shows quicker than Netflix for US shows (usually same season).
The three comedies the wife and I are currently watching: Casual, Goldbergs, Gavin and Stacey are not on Netflix.
Inspector Morse was only on Hulu too not Netflix. A lot of the shows the kids watch are on Hulu and not Netflix. (I think Breaking Bad is Hulu only too... Not sure... It was when Mrs had it... Netflix may have it now).
I prefer Netflix because it is completely ad free (even though Hulus ads arnt bad)... But Hulu seems to have more current stuff and more of what we watch.
But... If you can't get Hulu in the UK it's kind of a moot point.
Also it's $8 not £8 so that's a decent price difference. The reason they have any ads is because they started as a free platform. Then it was only free on PC.
Then they offered subscription services of either cheaper (with ads) or pricier without ads.
Also... You say Hulu don't make their own stuff like Netflix does... But they do have exclusive agreements with several tv networks... And British stuff is released in the US as "Hulu originals"
Anyone who didn't know better would think that Hulu had studios in Britain and made all of British TV.They do actually make some stuff. I think "Difficult People" is produced by Hulu. Problem is it sucks.
Also, my wife's favourite sitcom "Casual" is made by Hulu. Its quite a clever sitcom. Is recommend it if it makes it to the UK.
