First of all this is about Jenkins , not the two managers.
Laudrup: His last 9 Premier League games , 1 win , 5 points. 2 FA Cup games amongst the Premier League games ( both wins ) .11 games in 6 weeks against almost all top teams , infested with injured players.
Finally gets ready for a favourable run of games with a healthy team ......gets the axe.
Monk: His last 9 Premier League games, 1 win , 6 points . 1 League Cup game amongst The Premier League games ( a loss ) .10 games in 9 weeks against almost all not top teams, totally healthy players.
Has to get ready for an unfavourable run of top teams and a hectic Christmas schedule.......gets the "Carry on as if nothing's wrong "
Jenkins did everything he could to hinder Laudrup .
Jenkins is doing everything he can to prop Monk up , so they can both save face , at the expense of the club in general.

One more thing to think about...

I reckon Jenkins and the board sacked Laudrup because they believed he had lost the dressing room.
Judging by the difference in effort by our British players after Monk took over I reckon what happened is this....

Some of the senior British players had their nose put out of joint by Laudrup who made football decisions based on their football rather than pandering to egos.
ie. Ash - Laudrup thought he could replace with cheaper and spend the money elsewhere. The flashpoint, I believe, for the falling out with Laudrup's agent.
Monk - Where to start. Benched for long periods while Chico did his thing (I reckon Monk couldn't stand Chico). Threatened with the chop following the heavy defeat at Anfield alongside Bartley. Dropped from the Cup final team, Laudrup played Ki at the back instead! Against the sale of Ash. Mate of Taylor's, was being asked to go out on loan....you get the picture.
Taylor - Replaced by Ben Davies when injured and from then on Laudrup favoured Ben Davies (He was right, Ben Davies is plenty good enough for a very good Spurs side that will push for Champions League.....a young, HG, left footed player, Laudrup had unearthed a rare talent of a player that should have been worth £15m +). Taylor grumbled throughout this period and his agent made waves that he might leave.
Tate - given a chance and correctly adjudged to be not anywhere near good enough for the Premier League. He never played again and was loaned out (presumably Laudrup would have liked him off the wage bill
Leon - Absolute legend but with his role and the attributes you need it was obvious that his days were coming to an end. Laudrup purchased the services of Canas, for a very good price and dared to give him some game time so he might be integrated into the team ready for Leon's inevitable decline....in effect they were 2 handing that role.

Then you had the likes of Graham and Luke Moore being jettisoned to make room for Wilfried Bony and Nathan Dyer's petulance in the cup final (open disrespect).


The terrible decision we made was backing this clique, the disruptive unprofessional clique, the British clique and appointing their ring leader as manager.




Whoever we appoint next, wherever they are from, we need to back them as a club.
The players come and go and ultimately are only interested in protecting themselves, clinching longer lucrative contracts.
We appoint a manager to look after the club.
We need to let him do that.

Just searched the internet and I cannot find any articles, rumours etc even remotely suggesting that Monk is going to be sacked etc.

When ML was 'asked' to bring someone in to help, he refused and was sacked, rightly given results, performances etc.
Gary Monk has refused to bring someone in, and as bad as performances were under Laudrup, imo, since the Chelsea game (can't recall our last decent game), our performances under Monk, especially the last 7 games have been worse, and with a fully fit squad (barring Routs).
Monk was brought in to 'protect', 'save', 'restore' our values, identity etc, etc, but we are now as far removed from the 'Swansea Way' as possible and I am dumbfounded that he is still in charge. Hell fire, I can see us getting butchered next week at Anfield and see Monk still keeping his job.

The question for me is, other than BR, who else is out there that could take over?
 
I think this thread is ill conceived and is jumping the gun, have you ever thought that our Board are perhaps right now debating Monks exit? and what if they do take longer to come to a decision over Monk, surely he should be favoured with more time, he has earned it as Captain of our team over many many seasons and been a valuable servant of the club, Laudrop was an outsider passing through, so no comparison as I see it.


And just for the record, I'm no particular fan of Monk, but lets get a perspective, because there is no way Huw Jenkins and our board would let the club drop into an irretrievable position just because this manager has been here a long time, Monks job is far from safe, and I'm sure Huw has it all in hand, as he always has, he's not perfect as none of us are, but a better Chairman you will never find, so lets see how things develop, a week is a long time in footy.............<ok>
 
Passing through...lol....Laudrup was put in a canon and shot through, without even the opportunity to say his goodbyes .
Jenkins was doing fine while hiring good managers who not only got us results , but managers who created transfer wealth.
He changed direction with Monk , and steers Monk in any direction he pleases , at great cost to the club

Roofer like I said, I think your jumping the gun, Monk has been at our club many years, Laudrop on the other hand was passing through, and on his own admission would have gone that summer anyway under his own steam, so no contest as I see it...........<ok>
 
Don't care how long he's been with the club!! We beat Villa and we were **** that day, it's just the Villa were ****tier than us. We are shocking at the moment and we have been now since mid September, how many more chances does he need??

We need a new man in NOW, before it's too late and we're heading through the trap door back to the Championship.

Look lads I agree with the fact that I think Monk should go, but comparing this situation with Laudrop's sacking is a none starter, and when he does go he will not be sacked like Laudrop was, that you can be sure of, our Chairman and board have always acted honourably in these situations, and that will not change...... <ok>
 
I'm not sure why the Laudrup comparison isn't warranted Phil even though that wasn't Roof's intention I think. Both managers did great things, both had subsequent poor records. Almost identical, in fact. Whether you agree with Laudrup's sacking or not it was handled poorly by the Club. Really poorly. We can only hope that if/when Monk goes it's done properly. Seems to me there's more in common with the two than differences.

How many chances would you like to keep your job? Anyway Never he has one hell of a mountain to climb these next few games, so the writing is on the wall, just keep your knickers on you impatient tart......... <laugh>

Being a manager is being a manager , you shouldn't get a ""Get out of Sh:t Card " regardless of who you are ....period .And while most like to compare Premier League results only , Cups matter.
Michael entered us in 5 Cups during his reign .
He got knocked out of 1 League Cup and 1 FA Cup.
He won a League Cup (Our only Cup ever ) and had us deep into another FA Cup and deep into a prestigious Europa Cup before being axed , which he gets little or no credit for.
I won't speak of Monks Cup games because in fairness to him , I' m not sure he was controlling what was going on .Managers should be valued for what they do and not for previous player achievements.
Jenkins uses Monk to control what's going on , and that's why he will stay on longer and gets extra time ..period .

The stats comparisons are valid as is the situation of sacking, but Monk is a part of the Swansea family and surely that counts for something? That is what I'm referring too when stating no comparison, why should Monk not get some preferential treatment for the reasons I have posted in my previous posts? Hope your following my reason here, because our board of directors will take all that I have mentioned into account even if he only gets another few games it will happen, the sacking that is.......<ok>
